kobe has no real rivals because he's that much better than all of them
but people tried creating rivals from 2000-2010 for leagues best all around player with these guys
2000 - vince ( kobe winning the title +1 )
2001 - iverson ( kobe winning the title +1 )
2002 - tmac ( kobe winning the title +1 )
2003 - tmac ( kobe going farther in the playoffs +1 )
2004 - tmac ( kobe making the finals, father in the playoffs +1 )
2005 - iverson ( injured )
2006 - wade ( kwame/smush )
2007 - lebron ( kwame/smush )
2008 - lebron ( kobe making the finals, farther in the playoffs +1 )
2009 - lebron ( kobe winning the title +1 )
2010 - lebron ( kobe winning the title +1 )
its very rare any of kobes closest competition ever got the better of him

why are you mentioning team success? "going farther in the playoffs"? wtf
"winning the title"? they didn't even play each other in the playoffs
Lebron got the best of him every time they met
maybe this is why you have a red reputation

wait.. so you dont count playoff wins/titles/success
but you count 1 or 2 regular season victories?
and if you're just talking about minor outscoring or out assisting ( AND NOT THAT HORRIBLE TEAM SUCCESS ) during a single or maybe even both regular season matchups ( god forbid! ) ...
....i think winning a championship while averaging 25-30ppg is better than winning a single game during the regular season and choking in the playoffs
sorry.. but the 00's belonged to kobe
4 time player of the decade winner by SI, SN, Dime, TNT
lebron didnt start getting the better of kobe until kobe was entirely past his prime
however... kobe won titles during lebrons prime
deal with it son

That wasn't the discussion, now was it? They only matched-up during the RS and overall, Lebron got the better of Kobe. Can't discuss playoffs if they never had a series.

kobe won 2 titles during lebrons prime
lebron won 2 titles after kobes 10 year prime was long but over

You're ignored.
Looking at rings just by themselves is stupid. Else we'd have Russell as the GOAT. The more telling statistic is that the two already are even in FMVPs
Only one who ignores is someone getting his ass kicked. I wish we could debate more but it's ok if you're too beta to respond

kobes 1st 2 years brought down his career average by playing the 6th man role
his career average as a starter is 28ppg/6reb/5ast from 1998-99 to 2012-13
and even so.. career averages dont tell the whole story
look at the top 10 players ever compared to the top 10 scoring averages...
players
- jordan
- kareem
- russell
- wilt
- magic
- kobe
- bird
- shaq
- duncan
- hakeem
ppg
- jordan
- wilt
- lebron
- baylor
- west
- iverson
- durant
- pettit
- gervin
- robinson
high PPG is usually reserved for guys who dont win allot... like baylor, west, iverson, durant, gervin, robinson
sometimes to win you gotta sacrifice. lebrons only just now started doing that after a decade.. and surprise surprise.. he starts winning

Why should we ignore his first two years? If he wasn't good enough to play, that's on him. You wouldn't throw his first two years out if he was playing good, would you?
As for high PPG, is that what it is now? Are you now admitting that 2009 Lebron >>> 2006 Kobe?

the point is you're trying to say a guy is better because he was superior at age 18 and 19
who cares
kobes overall career and level of skill is higher
kobe is infinitely more fundamentally sound, his footwork, midrange, post game, left hand is far superior
the GOAT michael jordan says only kobe could beat him. he also says lebron wouldnt even come close in 1on1
kobe has the respect of all his piers.. lebron doesnt
how about lebron fans worry about catching birds 3. then duncans 4.. then kobes 5
and if you get that lucky. then think about jordans 6

They really have nothing to do with measuring a player.

I look at a guy's complete body of work as they're playing. If we're going only by peak, Lebron is probably top 3 all time so let's not even go there.
Now, you brought up a bunch of irrelevant points. Shaq wasn't skilled at all. Still a top 10 player all time. Michael Jordan is a guy who drafted Kwame Brown and Adam Morrison.

And its also sad that Lebron is considered a Rival to Kobe considering Kobe was STILL playing at a top level in his 14th season while Lebron was supposedly in his peak.
