Not that it's unexpected, but I was worried about this team before he got back.
2nd best team in the league and one of the few real title contenders

Durant's my favorite player in the league, but Russ is the engine of the team. It's quite obvious now.

OKC was one of the worst ballhandling teams I've ever seen without him. Glad to see him back.

The only way that could be obvious would be to take Durant out of their lineup for an extended period of time, including playoff games, and see how well the team plays.

About every OKC fan would have told anyone that would listen this team isn't built, at all, to cater to just one All-Star caliber player. There's just not enough offensive threats/shot creators to help Russ or KD if they're by their self. I do think Russ is the heart of the team, though. He just brings that relentless passion and energy every night and, despite popular opinion, is almost a perfect compliment to the more laid back, "pick my spots" Durant.

come playoff time I will take the team with two legit superstars

Durant's far and away the better player, yes, but Russ is the engine. As in, the team builds off of his energy, heart, and passion. That's irreplaceable.
Unless you think Durant is the one that fuels this team with those characteristics? :confusedshrug:

I'm sure nobody thinks they're better simply WITHOUT westbrook and no one replacing him.
Altho there's been plenty of reason to believe OTHER star caliber players would be a better FIT with Durant.
And I'm pretty sure that's all anyone's said about it.

I have always said KD is ice and Russell is fire that's why their duo is so deadly. One relentlessly attacking head on wearing down the defense, the other finishing off constantly without mercy.

Westbrook is the engine, Durant is the tires.
The car sits on top of the tires. The car needs tires to be able to move. The engine just propels it much faster than it could otherwise go. Without an engine, the car could be move by being dragged or pushed but its far less effective. Without tires... the car goes literally nowhere.
Right????

Yep. Teams that lose their second best player (and, top 10 player in the league) tend to play worse. Then they get good again once the player returns.

Bayless is the worst. He is a IRL troll.
Inb4 People will accuse Goatbrook being a chucker, not a floor general, turnover prone.. SMH

This!
The thunder didn't have a legitimate 2nd option with wb out so of course they're gonna improve with him back. Plus he commands defensive attention which makes it easier for teammates. But who's to say thunder minus Durant are anything special?
In my eyes Durant is still the most important piece, but its something of a 1A/1B situation.
