Applied for a 911 job. Tested & interviewed, then just received this in an email.

This seems like great news.

Then again, it could just mean they'll call if something becomes available.



Please give me a hand translating this letter....

You are accepted and have been put on a list of people to fill available jobs. How many are there, do you know? As jobs become available, they will call people to fill them, and you are 6th on the call list so you need 5 people to either get jobs or decline them.

It's not an offer as they haven't promised you anything and you haven't agreed to anything.

Yeah, that's my take, too.

I've had to scratch and claw in order to get an opportunity like this, so I'm more than happy to be on their eligibility list.

Man, good luck. I hope you do get the job offer before 2015. Just make sure you don't just rely on this and wait it out. It'd be better to apply elsewhere, too.

yeah, i'm not at all banking on this.

i have, and will continue, to test & interview at as many places as I can reasonably commute to.
