So does it seem like he'll be playing a lot? I should pick him off of the wire on my fantasy league if it looks like he may start getting heavy minutes.

Inb4 Perk is back at 30 minutes after Adams' first 2/3 on 1-6 FG showing.
But I am liking this guy a lot. Hopefully he can keep Perk on the bench.

Adams had 17/10 tonight. Perkins hasn't had a double double since April 2012.

Yes, that makes two games in a row he got more minutes than Perkins. Sure, he'll have the typical rough games all rookies have, but it's looking more and more like Adams will not only be getting around 20 minutes per night for awhile, but may take over the starting center role in the near future.

Who's a safer pickup for now? Bargani (Chandler out) or Adams?

I'm trying to not get too excited, but Adams already looks like a future 10 and 10 player when he's starting and getting 25-30 minutes a game. Not this year, probably, but a year or two down the line when he's more developed. And if OKC can add a 10 and 10 center -- who can run the floor, finish off dump-off passes and offensive rebounds, and who's a legit defensive anchor (which I think Adams is showing flashes of being in the future) -- to go with KD, Russ, and Serge, they're going to be possibly even more scary than they were with Harden. They could potentially be much more balanced than they ever could've been with Harden. Two more than solid bigs to go with a deadly perimeter duo?

It's all going according to plan.
Adams/Lamb > Harden for this Thunder team.
When the Thunder win the title this year. Presti should go up to the ESPN NBA countdown deal with Simmons and just slap him in the face and walk off.

Don't really know. I want to say Bargnani because Adams isn't going to put up 17 and 10 every night and he won't get 30 minutes every night. He's a rookie big who's going to get in early foul trouble some nights and spend a lot of the game on the bench.
But I've only watched one Knicks game this year so far, and in that game Bargnani looked pretty bad. Either way, he's going to get more touches and shots than Adams, but Adams, even if he's getting 7-10 fewer minutes per game than Bargs, is going to have more blocks and more rebounds and shoot a better percentage from the floor.

Thanks man. I haven't seen any Thunder games yet.

Still think we're a little too young to win it all this year, but the young guys are already looking like more than solid contributors. And while they'll have some lows as all rookies do (let's be honest, Lamb is essentially a rookie), OKC could be pretty scary come March and April when these guys (Adams, Lamb, Jones) have 50+ games worth of meaningful minutes under their belt.
Either way, if this is Adams as a rookie, and we assume he'll continue to improve to some degree over the next 5 or so seasons, OKC has the potential to be much more balanced than they ever could've been with Harden. Will Adams ever be better than Harden? Probably not, but now you've taken KD, Russ, and Serge and have given them a potential defensive anchor, 10 and 10 center who runs the floor well, has soft hands, and can rebound/catch and finish above the rim.
And for the shit Ibaka gets on here by some, and some of it is deserved, he's always looked like a more than serviceable 3rd option with Westbrook on the floor...which is all the Thunder need him to be. Since Westbrook's return, he's averaging 12-11-2 on 55% shooting, and I expect the scoring to climb a little more as the season progresses. And while his defensive discipline needs some work, if Adams continues to be this solid as a paint/rim protector, then he can be even more lethal as a weakside defender/shotblocker.
This hinges a ton on Adams' continued development and improvement over the next few years, but if this proves to be Adams' floor, I think I'd rather have the better two-way, better balanced foursome of KD/Russ/Serge/Adams than KD/Russ/Harden/Serge.

I think they will be ready by the playoffs. If Adams, Lamb, and Jackson are going to get 18 plus minutes a game each all season...they will be ready for what the Thunder need from them.
It will hinge on Durant and WB as it should. If they dominate...they will at least make the finals.
I don't love Ibaka as a player, but he's perfect for what the Thunder need when they are healthy. So even though individually I think he's a tad over-rated...he fits his role on the Thunder perfectly and that makes him more valuable than most give him credit for.

True, Healthy Thunder are 10x better than a banged up old ass Spurs squad with Ginobli playing like shit.
With their point differential, offense, defense, they statistically were the heavy favorites to win the title last year. Scumbag Beverley

I agree.
Why does everyone just ignore this?
Durant had his best year ever. The Thunder had the best offense and 4th ranked defense. Martin filled in nicely in my opinion...don't get the hate. 14 ppg on 61% TS in 27 mpg. What else did people want from him playing 3rd option?
They win 60 games as well. They go 60-22...which is better than the 47-19 they went in 12. And really improved the defense (Harden is an abysmal defender...just awful)...
What games were people watching? I'll still never understand.

Honestly the Thunder might have beat the Heat in 5. Seriously...you think an injured Wade and inept Bosh are enough to win that series? No ****ing way.
Thunder definitely beat the Heat in the finals last year. Not a doubt in my mind. Worn down Heat should have lost to a worn down and old as **** Spurs team with Manu and Parker and Green choking their asses off for half she series.
You think Durant and WB aren't taking advantage of that shit? Please...

Here's the question though. If Perkins only plays 18 minutes a game...rather than the 25 plus he played last year. Is he actually a positive?
See...if they amnesty Perkins..then they have to go out and pay for another big. So not only does it cost the owners money, does it make you better?
And will they want Perkins to guard Howard and or the Memphis front line in the playoffs?
I agree that amnestying him was probably best after the 12 season, but he might actually pay some dividends in the playoffs this year depending on the matchups...

Sorry, Perkins is not a positive with any minutes.
He got shit on by Grizzlies bigs in playoffs last year. Wouldn't mind letting him clown the crybaby Howard tho.
We need to start Adams and use Collison as the backup but mostly go small ball when Adams is on the bench

Maybe trade perkins to boston for Gerald Wallace. A better fit. Perkins could be the starting center for Boston in a slower conference.
Wallace could play a fast tempo style with okc. Come off their bench and run. Play some small ball 4 with ibaka at five.

Oh I disagree.
I don't like the fit of Harden/Westbrook/Durant on the court at all. It only works because of their talent. And it's an example of diminishing returns. 3 of them together prevents all of them from playing at their optimal level.

Exactly. I understand why some people think he's overrated, and he is to some extent, but int erms of what he gives OKC as a 3rd option alongside KD and Russ, he's pretty ideal. And once or twice ever 5-10 games, you'll get something like 18-11-6(blks) from Ibaka where he makes two or three game altering blocks, and really makes opposing guards/wings hesitant to drive into the lane.

While I agree with you that Perkins is terrible and always has been, he did a pretty good job covering Dirk late in the games when they revenge-swept the Mavs. Ibaka is horribly bad on Dirk. If Adams could become a good defender, it's game over.
