View Full Version : What Wade did there....

....is no different than just turning his head and throwing the ball in the crowd somewhere.

I never blame a loss on a player for missing a gamewinning / gametying shot (yes, Wade situation at the FT line was that important)... but this might be it considering the absurd decision of a 100% completely controllable play to win a game...

Its 0.6 left.... score is 110-108 to Miami...

Wade is at the line, they logically agreed upon needing to make at least 1 FT, if not, then at least miss them of the iron so the 0.6 sec can pass (no chance/time for rebound, its a win-win scenario).... Wade misses a FT... ok... no biggie... so he has to make the last one or simply just shoot it carefully hit or miss, as long as the ball hits the rim (so the clock can run off).... Its a 100% guaranteed win and 100% controllable situation.... whether he misses or makes....

What he does instead is deliberately heaving the ball which makes it much harder to control where the ball will go (and i know he knew that)... missing the entire rim.....

Now the Celtics hit a 3 with 0.6 left...

This was a 100% controllable play/decision.... what happened next was NOT a mistake.... he could have easily/comfortably shot the ball for the miss, 100% guaranteed hitting the rim........... but nooooo..... http://www.xerq.net/images/smilies/suicide.gif

There would a bigger chance of hitting a rim aka some sort of a fan prop (maybe a hat) if he threw it in the crowd instead of what he has done.

One of the most retarded decisions of all time.

I have not seen the game, so I am not going to comment on anything else that the Heat might've fu**ed up.

All he had to do was shoot his normal freethrow (rarely ever makes late game FT's). He would've missed anyway.

No big deal, just regular season game... im just aiming at that play, very confusing, Wade is essentially a very high IQ player, not sure what he was thinking there.... he maybe was that confident he would still hit the rim throwing it that way and even if he missed it all like he did he maybe underestimated Celtics chances of making a 3 with 0.6 sec left...

Forreal.

Lebron threw the 2011 NBA Finals because Wade was going to win Finals MVP. I don't see pauk ever making a thread about that travesty.

He thought it was over so he was playing around a little bit. That's all there is to it. The truth is Celtic had an extremely low chance to win the game in that situation.

Why do people who watch 2 seconds of a game comment on it? :facepalm

Lebron wants to be the DPOY, but is playing defense like he's Harden. Can't blame Lebron though as the Heat as a whole (including Wade) were bad defensively. When the Celtics (led by Green) score 111 on absurd efficiency, there's a bigger problem that 2 missed FT's. They shouldn't have been within 4 points of Miami in the first place.

Whatever. Just a meaningless RS game. I hope that they STOP playing DOWN to the competition though. Game like this should be 20-30 point blowouts with the stars playing on ~30 minutes.

Eveyone saw it was a stupid play, no need to more explanations. The way wade is shooting FT this season, he just had to shoot it and he would have missed it.

I ask you how green got open for that jumper.

Last year finals there was a similar situation and Bosh blocked the shot. Why couldn't the "best defender in the nba" make it a tougher shot. Green caught it and shot a fade away, but lebron wasn't close enough to contest the shot.

You ONLY try that if the other team doesn't have a timeout. Otherwise, it's an indefensible decision..

That was bad even by Wade's standards. Anybody who has remotely followed his career knows that he's a notorious late-game choke artist at the FT line. In that situation, I don't think I've seen him make both since the Big 3 came together. He's much more likely to miss both, if anything. I cringed the moment he got fouled, because I knew, at the very least, Boston was going to have a shot at tying the game. Wade NEVER seals the game in that situation.

Geez, ok we get it...he made a mistake. The reason is because they never practice "purposely missing" a shot. They should practice it for like 5 minutes ONCE in training camp. Players don't realize ball will bounce straight back to them unless they miss right.

But as always, a game is 48 minutes long. If you have to blame Wade for one play, then what about rest of game? Maybe the Heat shouldn't be up only 2 at the end of game against the Celtics. How bout 5? or 10? or 20?

In Game 5 he did. But in Game 6 he bricked a couple near the end of the game that gave Dallas a shot to tie it with a three. Wade has definitely had his moments of bricking free throws late. Kinda annoying. Last night was brain fart that I had never seen before, though. :oldlol:

It's been a strange theme with Wade to brick 1 or 2 free throws in late game situations. Players have won games for their teams with similar examples of last night.

Great shot by Green, though. Nothing really you could have done if your a Heat player. You could have hoped for a block if your James, but it wasn't meant to be.

what? did you actually watch the game? Bosh got screened and switched over to Green. He had no choice but to guard him. Plus Bosh is 6'11 with long arms and Danny Green is only like 6'5. You dudes look at situations with no context at all :facepalm

LeBron clearly thought the man that was flashing to the top of the key was going to get the ball so he hesitated(for help defense) just for a lil bit which gave Green the opportunity to get separation and fire a three

It's not like Wade played pretty well and kept Miami in the games, right? Lets also not talk about the Pacers series, where Wade averaged 33/7/4 on 62% in games 4, 5, & 6. Lebron wouldn't have won it without Wade and vice versa.

its people like you that should just stay off ISH. This isn't even remotely related to Kobe. not to mention this is the most ridiculous thing you could possibly say without even backing it up.

What Wade did I've seen before. Not saying it was ok, but I've seen it before, he was trying to hit the front of the rim directly so it would come straight back out, but he shot it high.

Regardless, they had a chance to play D for the win. And they messed that up as well. So it's not only Wade's fault, the team as a whole had their own meltdown letting Boston's best player on the night get open.

This.

Celtics are a bottom feeder team this year, there's no reason a defensive monster team in Miami should be keep them in striking distance.

the problem with Wade is not that he made a mistake last night but that he's just too damn arrogant. Dude threw this ball to the backboard carelessly and bigheaded. And he does these kind of things all the time. Often Miami gets away with it but Wade really hurt them with his careless plays!

What's even worse is, that Miami plays great team ball for 46 minutes and then Lebron and Wade start playing iso-ball and end up with turnovers or bad shots. :facepalm

Huh? Miami is the 3rd worst ranked defense so far this season. They were just as bad defensively to start off last season too. Usually takes them months to start playing well on that end of the floor.

It's a light switch / conserving energy thing. That's why they don't ramp it up until later in the season. Otherwise there would be no reason for them NOT to be beastly out the gates on an end of the floor that requires primarily just effort. They have too much rapport as a unit, too much length and athleticism for them to not be good at it. It's just an effort, or conserving energy thing.
