View Full Version : The NBA now has a severe lacking of quality shooting guards

The bigman void has now been filled with Kevin Love and Anthony Davis. What the NBA desperately needs now are superstar level shooting guards, players who's main purpose is to score and to score alot. I really want to see more dynamic scorers like T-Mac, Iverson, Wade, and Kobe.
We have the greatest generation of PG in history (CP3, Curry, Westbrook, Irving, Rose, Wall, Rondo, Lilliard, MCW)
We have the greatest generation of SF in history (Lebron, Durant, Paul George)
We have an upcoming batch of great PFs (Love, Anthony Davis, Blake Griffin)
Center position is still pretty much dead, but it can be replaced by the similar power forwards.
SGs are on the decline, Kobe is old and injured, Wade is old and dumb, Harden is a joke of a star. There isn't a player who can light up on points now. And there doesn't look to be a star SG draft in the future.
Really make me cherish Kobe as a player, even though he's just a poorman's copy of MJ. At least he tries. Now all the star players try to be like Lebron and focus on all-round game and good percentages. We never get to see 50 - 60 point games anymore.

Paul George would be listed as an SG if Granger was still playing.

Monta Ellis, Klay Thompson, Eric Gordon, Eric Bledsoe(yes he plays SG), Bradley Beal, Jeremy Lamb, Evan Turner are probably the upcomings, most of which won't even get to be an allstar.
But yeah I agree, the SGs are the thinnest position given how the NBA is generally viewed as a guards driven/favored league. I think the NBA knows that and are currently working hard to 'promote' George and Harden. George is solid all around and legit but Harden is just fked up.
Sad we got robbed of Wade, Roy due to injuries. Those two would have accomplish more.

That's why we should cheer for Kobe and D-Wade while they last. Harden is a talented offensive player but doesn't even try on the defensive end 98.9% of the time. If you gave those point guards like Rose, Westbrook, and Irving 2-3 inches to their height, they would be playing the shooting guard role. And yeah, we got robbed of Brandon Roy.

Monta's already 28, he's not going to get much (if at all) better than he is now.

Harden is not a joke SG's are supposed to score points and thats what he does you ****ing retards. ISH is dumb af sometimes :facepalm . Name me one SG in the history of NBA history that shoots a high % every night and gets to the line 10+ times every night and your giving me michael ****ing jordan. SG's have off nights and if Harden can give you 30/5/5 on 50% only 40 games a year ill take him every year

are there any upcomming potential SG drafts? (not those undersized 2 guards, but a legitimate 6'6 SG)

Here
27,5,5
22,4,5
26,4,2
Kobe,Wade,Harden
Wade was most efficient at 52%
Kobe had most points per game
Defense-Wade
Playmaling-Wade
WTF does Harden do beside get 20fta a game
better than Kobe,Wade
Harden has NEVER come close to 30,5,5 on 50% in a season for even Close to 40 games total much less in a season
And seriously SG Shoot yeah no sht but they also play defense, and are
way way more efficient than Harden
Harden shot more than Wade, had more fta and yet only avg 4 more pts as 1st
Jordan
R Allen
R miller
Drexler
Wade
Kobe
Carter
West
Harden
Which one of these seems extremely off for a so called star?
Harden is the most inefficent "superstar" sg ever
and he is by far ThE worst defender EVER
he doesnt even TRY to play d
and his offensive game is mediocre at best
Shoot3s,get to rim,try to get a call
Thats LiTERALLY all HE Does
Harden is a clear definition of manufactured superstar
What Star with 10 fta +++ Shoots under 43% and can only get 26 ppg
with 4 ast all while being clear cut 1st option
NONE unless you count Harden as a star
Harden would be considered just a solid player at BEST if he played
in 2010-before as he does now

^I'd say Bryant was better than Wade last year in playmaking.

His stats may not look great at the moment, but give him some time. He's on the way back.

Id take a hobbled Wade,a way past his prime V Carter,an injured chucking Kobe,
39 yr old R Allen
all before Harden
Harden plays worse defense than somebodies grandmother
harden is a joke of a so called "Superstar".
If you needed 20 pts theres 10 other guards way more efficient,if you needed playmaking theres 20 other sg,defense Anybody besides Harden
And no Harden doesnt get all legit calls to the line
A gust of wind blows or you breath near him his beard flies up and somehow he gets whiplashed Every time
Harden is called a superstar by the media trying to Create him as such
Wade,Kobe arent gonna play forever and theres nobody close to them
Its like how the media proclaimed D Rose Best Player or Top 5
when facts and everything else say otherwise
Harden is a JOKE,Its a major disgrace to even compare him to superstars much less call him one
Granger avg 25 ppg and nobody called him a superstar,
Ellis,K Martin avg 20+
I see the hype and media machine is really working in full effect

Majority of season Wade
Part of Season-Kobe
Lets not forget Kobe doing Rondo assists, completely giving up scoring, and
having a crapload of tos in trying to be better than Steve Nash at playmaking and assists
Kobe was better for part of the season though

as others have posted - plenty of potential at the SG position to be really solid in the future. In no particular order - Oladipo, Harden, Fournier, TRoss, McLemore, Beal, Klay, Jennings, Waiters, EGordon, Lamb, etc are all U24.

IMO the 80s had still had the best SF generation. They were too stacked in that position. Larry Bird, Dominique Wilkins, Dr. J, Alex English, Adrian Dantley, Bernard King, and James Worthy. There are others as well.
Anyway, the SG position isn't bad as the center position. You may not like Harden, but he's still a very good scorer. Wade brought back his mid range J it seems, so that's great. But the SG isn't like it was in the early 00s. And Monta Ellis is ok.
