Have any of you watched Mary the past 10 years? It has not held up well. Barely beats Water Boy for not being last on that list. Hell, Waterboy wasn't even funny when it first came out.

Thanks, but I messed up :lol . I had Young Frankenstein out of view and didn't realize I hadn't ranked it (so it instead looks like I had it way above the others, lol). The Jerk is actually my all time favorite comedy.

Why no Stepbrothers or The Anchorman?

There was an obvious theme that was created. Those comedies didn't fit that criteria

napolean dynamite and dumb and dumber are the only decent movies on that first list. Be kind rewind and whatever works are good comedies. A lot of the ones on the older list are really good too, it's true that 90% of comedies these days are just recycled garbage

Hell, Waterboy wasn't even funny when it first came out.I watched it about a month ago and still found it pretty entertaining. Dillon's scene about working with the mentally disabled might be one of my all-time faves.

I think a lot of hipsters are ranking The Hangover.

That got some genuine laughs out of me, I enjoyed it a lot in the theaters. Plus it was my first introduction to Zach galawhatever.

That movie had me dying the first time I saw it in which i was sober and tbh that's big bonus points for me

I think a lot of people are subconsciously letting The Hangover 2/3 influence their rankings of The Hangover. The first was pretty original and funny, before they beat the horse to death with Ed Helms screaming and Zach Galifinakis being weird in the sequels.

I hope nobody thought this was my personal top 10. I created this thread to see where people compare what type of comedy preference and which actor they relate to in terms of one of their comedic pivotal roles

Dumb and Dumber- Jim Carey
Old School- That new Rat Pack group Luke Wilson, Will Farrell, Vince Vaugh,
The Hangover- Zack Galifinakis
There's Something About Mary- Ben Stiller
Superbad- Michael Cera, Jonah Hill
Napoleon Dynamite- John Heder
Waterboy- Adam Sandler
Borat- Sasha Baron Cohen
American Pie- Jason Bigg, Seann William Scott

Also I don't agree with making a definitive top 10 comedy movie as comedy is subjective. None of the above are in my personal top 10. I think comedy is relatable to what you find in life funny. I have to agree with TheMarkMadsen in that The Hangover was well done and a riot. Cool concept as well.
Everyone ranks Holy Grail and The Jerk as one of the greatest comedies and I don't like neither. But it's deemed uncool or bad taste not to like them

My personal top 10? Haven't really cranked one out but it would include:

Swingers
What About Bob
Ready To Rumble
I Love You Man

and some other ones I've used quotes in daily lives

Judging taste in comedy is like judging people's taste in food or their favorite color. There is no wrong answer.
