It depends what Duncan you're talking about. Last season Duncan had a throwback year and had his best season in a long time. This year it seems like they're not really depending on him as much offensively

No news to anyone that Parker runs that team. Pop being the ultimate puppet master.

I have him ignored too but I had to click the "view post" link to verify.

You are correct, he mentioned Kobe; in his usual trolly fashion.

Will never click to see his posts again. (Negged him while I was in there.)

and Tony Parker had 1 assist the entire game and played less minutes than Duncan... who really cares as long as they win?

If y'all haven't noticed by now, the Spurs are like the epitome of "team" and sharing the ball... think mid-2000's Pistons.

They had 6 players in double figures tonight and none of them even hit the 20 point mark.

16 points - Parker
15 points - Diaw
13 points - Kawhi
12 points - Splitter
10 points - Ginobili
10 points - Belinelli

5 is a higher number than 4. With that being said shaq and Duncan are both higher all-time than kobe.

Against Washington...

The whole starting 5 could have seated the game and the spurs would still win. Doesnt say anything about how good or impactful a player is....

That is your opionion. I myself have Shaq higher than Kobe for now, not Duncan though. That being said, the majority have Kobe higher than both from what I've seen/read - media, fans, former players. This year Wade and Dirk, two of the greatest of this generation said that Kobe was the best player of this era/generation. Shaq himself has called Kobe the GOAT Laker multiple times. Not that it makes what those players have said, or what the majority thinks is true, but shows that Kobe has a good case for being higher than both.

Regular season is like preseason to Duncan. Why would he care about a game against the Wizards?

That's fair enough, I respect the fact you came back with a rational case.
I find a lot of what is said is sensationalized and people often say things because they are guided towards answers by journalists, or they may feel its a good answer there and then. For example LeBron saying Dr j was a top 3 all-time player, it was probably more due to the media focus on Dr j at the time.
I just see Duncan and shaq as more impactful players than Kobe so its hard to rate him above them, especially when his finals performances don't quite measure up.
But hey everyone has their way of assessing things.

SAS cruising already, it's unusal for starters to play more than 30 mins per game.

It ll prolly cost Leonard a spot for the all-star game tho.

I dunno, when it really counted, he came up horribly short. He was scoreless in game 6 after like 2:00 into the third quarter, with Chris Bosh guarding him, as the only seven footer in Miami's pathetic frontcourt. Blew a layup that could have saved game 7.

If I were Pop, I wouldn't play Duncan or Ginobili more than 20 minutes in a game until the WCSF. They're old and they get really tired, especially Manu. Manu basically cost them the Finals single-handedly. Acting like the ball was dipped in a vat of butter.

3 FMVP> 2 FMVP
2 MVP > 1 MVP
So Steve Nash was ranked higher than Kobe all-time before the 2008 season ended? 2 MVPs > 0 MVPs, 0 FMVPs? Was Wade in 2006 ranked higher than Kobe? 1 FMVP > 0 MVPs, 0 FMVPs?

Kobe the best seasons he didn't win mvp
2002-03: 30/7/6 on 56%ts
2005-06: 35/5/4 on 56%ts
2006-07: 32/6/5 on 58%ts

Duncan the 2 years he won mvp
2001-02: 26/13/4 on 58%ts
2002-03: 23/13/4 on 56%ts

He didn't win a finals mvp in 00-02, but what he did do was averaged 29/7/6 on 56%ts in the 01 playoffs including his 33/7/7 series vs Duncan's spurs, and 27/6/5 on 51%ts in the 02 playoffs including a gamewinner in a critical game 4 vs Duncan's spurs.
