Penny gut injured much earlier than Mcgrady, but his small sample size still showed greatness when he had not even reached his prime. Injury bug caught tracy a little later but still riddled his career. Both rocked the #1 jersey for the Magic, and both got to the finals and lost (not really relevant for mcgrady riding pine), both could have been greater. Who you got?

IMO T-Mac. I believe we saw enough of them, and Hill, to know how good they would've been.

Hard to say since we don't know if Penny would have been able to get better than what we had already seen from him in his second and third year in the league.

From what we saw, T-mac reached a higher level...in 2002 and 2003 in Orlando.

Grant vs Mcgrady would be more interesting. I doubt anyone can fully say Penny was or would have been better.

Penny was enormously talented. remember, he was a true point guard at 6'7''.
impossible to say who would've been the best of those three.

Tmac, easily.

Tmac gets such a bad rep for not making it out of the first round. If you look at his stats and the stats of his teammates, he's clearly not to blame. He's elevated his level of play in the postseason year after year while his team stinks it up.

Tmac in his prime would be able to give prime Jordan/Kobe/Lebron a run. Any of those 4 could outperform one another on any given night.

What? :biggums:

Penny > Grant Hill

And that is just from what we saw, and is not just speculation about Penny improving upon his second and third year.

Peak Penny was better than Peak Hill. And Peak Hill was likely his true peak. Penny may have improved upon his peak.

?????

Peak Penny put up 21/4/7 with 2 stls on .605 TS%.

Peak Hill put up 21/9/7 with 2 stls on .556 TS% or 26/7/5 on .565 TS%

Not only this, but Grant Hill was one of the best perimeter defenders in the league.

Hill didn't play with Shaq either. He put up Penny's assist numbers as a SF with average teammates.

McGrady couldn't go past the 1st round with a Prime Yao.

Give me Penny, at least he and Shaq went to the finals, and didn't he score 42 points against prime Pippen and Jordan?

I'd probably take Penny over TMac.

Grant Hill was not a great defender back then. He actually only became a good defender some how in Phoenix a few years ago.

And I don't care about the stats. And even if I do, I don't understand what you are showing there...because those stats are pretty equal...one of them rebounds better (the one who was a small forward as opposed to a PG) and one of them shot more efficiently.

Prime Jordan is 1990 - 1993. So no. And I believe you're confusing his lone back to back 40 point games against Riley's Heat. Defensive juggernauts who never had double 40s dropped on them. I really prefer Penny's combination of scoring, and distribution. He was a refined post player too coming out the gates. He had nice dimension to his game.

Penny.

They were both similar scorers with Penny being more efficient, except Penny was better at carrying a team than Tmac.
