View Full Version : People need to stop pretending Pau Gasol is still good.

He is not an all-star, he is not even an elite center any more. I have no idea why everyone from Kobe to Bill Simmons oversing his praises. Everyone said he suffered last year from playing out of position and from having injuries and once he came back and especially without Kobe he would shine. Now look, dude as a center isn't even making 40% of his shots.

And while his stats may get better as the season progresses, the truth is for three years now we've been lying about how good he actually is. Ever since the 2010 Finals he had dropped off. Lakers are lucky his ridiculous contract is up after this year. For what you're getting with him, maybe the most overpaid player in the league. Kobe is overpaid too but at least he can still put up elite numbers. Pau is a joke.

He have no reliable playmaker at the moment, but it is a good sign for the Lakers that he is grabbing rebounds he is actually averaging close to 11 in 29 minutes. Once Kobe comes back he will have someone to feed him easy baskets and also take off more pressure.

He can come to the Hawks next year as a free agent.
3 years, 39 million.
He plays center, allowing Horford and Millsap to play the forward positions.

Take him. Not worth over 12 mill a year for us.

Gasol without Kobe equals a no good scrub. Gasol with Kobe equals a top 5 center in the NBA. Kobe made Gasol, I remember he averaged like 20/10 last season in a stretch where D12 was out. Just futher shows how Kobe makes his teamates better and how concerous of a teammate howard is.

You really think the Lakers want to blow up their salary cap space this summer for Amare and JR (and then have to give up a roster spot to Chris Smith)?

A lot of Kobe haters looked stupid with their whole Pau is the greatest PF in the league talk and "the Lakers will play better without ball hogging chucker" crap they were spewing. It's always good to see idiots get exposed

Gasol is still capable of 18/8 on good efficiency.

He's so passive this year. This should be his time now that Kobe is out but he's content to set screens and facilitate for others. He needs to put his ass under the hoop and demand the ball. I think he has enough ability to still be an all star. For some reason he just won't.

I still love the guy but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed.

I think you need to change your username to KingKobeBryant. Gasol was still an elite player in 2011.

Gasol hasn't been elite since Pjax's last playoffs. That was the beginning of the end for Gasol. Its excuse after excuse nowadays.
