Christian Bale gives Ben Affleck a "piss" of advice

Ben Affleck's really not having an easy time of being Batman, and he hasn't even stepped into the rubber suit yet. He faced backlash from basically everyone on the planet (apart from his wife). He has to work in the giant shadow of Christian Bale's stellar version of the Caped Crusader, who is just about everyone's favourite Batman there's ever been.

Talking to Access Hollywood, Bale pretty much hammered some nails into the coffin of his Batman at the same time, and seemed to be hinting at the fact that he doesn't want to be constantly asked about Affleck's performance for the next however many years Ben's in the role for. And if there's one thing we know, it's that you don't want to make Christian Bale angry.

Bale said: 'The only thing I said to him is to make sure he can take a piss without anyone having to help him because it's a little bit humiliating - at least what I went through - when you have to have someone help you out of the costume in order to do that. That was my main piece of advice for him.'

Well at least he didn't take the piss completely. Bale added: 'I wish him all the best, he's a very experienced actor and filmmaker. He'll make it his own. Our thing is finished, we always declared it was finished and it should be passed on to another actor - it will be again after him.'

Testy Bale!

Honestly didn't care much for Bale as Batman especially his Batman voice.

Affleck could make a better Batman than Bale... maybe? Just don't do the Batman voice.

But WB should've gotten Jon Hamm from Mad Men instead.

He'd make a GREAT Bruce Wayne and probably at least an adequate Batman.

Yeah I think that's my biggest problem with Affleck, I just don't see him as a good Bruce Wayne. Maybe he'll prove me wrong.

A rich, smarmy, womanizing, asshole playboy? That's a role Affleck can play in his sleep.

Yeah, but can he play the dark stoic side of him well? I guess its not exactly a movie focused on Bruce, so it doesn't matter.

LOL... He wasn't a great Batman.

He really wasn't. His Bruce Wayne was good, though.

He and Keaten were like polar opposites. :lol

If he can deliver the same type of performance that he did in 'Argo', where exposition and dialogue was minimized, I think he can turn opinions around.

I don't really get all the hate for Affleck as Bruce Wayne. This is coming from a pretty big Batman/ film enthusiast.

Fckin internet nerds are so PMS sometimes. This news and the reactions illustrated as much.

I think Affleck could play a good version of the character. I prefer him as a director but he could surprise the audience. The upcoming movie isn't even focused on Batman.

I remember how people reacted when Ledger was cast as the Joker. U would have thought America was attacked by Australia in Pearl Harbor fashion.

^^^ It's not hate for Affleck for Bruce Wayne though. I think most people would agree he can nail Bruce Wayne... but Batman? I don't know. Bale was an intimidating as Batman. Can Affleck be intimidating? It will be a helluva performance if he can because I wouldn't be intimidated physically by Ben Affleck.

The gravely smoker voice was the worst part of the trilogy.

It took me out of the great dialogue and action sometimes. The Batman voice became a joke in the last two movies.

If Bale woulda kept it like Batman Begins, he would have been a great Batman. He rocked the Bruce Wayne psyche but Nolan and Co. made Batman sound laughable in a few scenes.

Keaton kept it mysterious and ominous. A silent gangster. Maybe Affleck can take it back to that direction versus...

" *Argh* He Mustta Had Friendsssssss *Grr* "

I love Nolan and Bale's work though overall. I own all the blu rays and have watched them numerous times over the years. Not every little note was on beat though.

I can understand why Bale maybe testy and sounds like he's also not be a fan of Affleck and the new direction of Batman.

Warner Bros did a sneaky advertising campaign for Man of Steel last summer where they heavily promoted Chris Nolan's name throughout their MOS ads:

"...from Zack Snyder, and from producer Chris Nolan, the Director of The Dark Knight Trilogy... comes Man of Steel."

Lots of the general audience took this as a sign maybe MOS and Nolan's Batman were connected when Nolan had basically very little or no involvement with the screenplay and script at all.

Think that's where a lot of the backlash comes from.

No Chris Nolan, MOS ends up $100 million less in total WW box office.

I have a hard time understanding the hate for Affleck as Bruce Wayne / Batman.

Consider his life story so far.

He is the closest thing to a real-life Batman that there is. People think of him as some shallow millionaire playboy, and yet have you seen his films? Nothing more gritty, real, or deep is being made today.

And unlike Batman, Affleck's dark caped crusader exploits in the field of art are available for anyone to see. Yet most of us still think of him as a cardboard cut-out of a good-looking guy.

Christian Bale did well in the role, but it was Nolan that made those films great, not Bale.

Is this mother****er :crazysam: ?

Bale's Batman was laughable. He looked like a BMX racer in a dog mask. That corny Bat voice made me embarrassed to be a fan of Batman.
