The day before yesterday I was playing my PS3 in HD on my TV with no problems. Yesterday, I went to play again and the HDMI source said "no signal". I googled it and some results said maybe your cables broken, so I got another and its the same problem. I hooked it up to another TV and its the same thing.

So I hooked it up to the second TV using the AV cable and it works. This means standard definition. I found out about something called a HDMI handshake so I tried to reset the PS3s video source and then look on the HDMI channel on the TV and nothing happened.

Anyone know what I can do to get my PS3 back to HDMI?

Just turn your ps3 on and hold the power button till you hear it beep and it will fix it... Yep it's that simple

Try unplugging your tv and console for a couple minutes and unplug hdmi, then turn tv on and connect hdmi and power up console. You don't have another hdmi cable to test?

This would happen with my cable box receiver, usually I just unplug tv and it plug back in then power it on and It would work.

Did you try turning it off and on again?

Tried it already, then tried it again for good measure and it still isn't working. Thanks anyway, here's some rep

Ok... Try going into your video settings and changing it manually it should work... I had the same problem and this is how I solved it

Yeah I went out and got another HDMI cable earlier and neither the old one or the new one have fixed it so I think its the PS3 itself.

This didn't work for me either, but rep for helping

This is a sign: Time to get a next gen system.

Nah, literally just tried it before I came back to the laptop to read this, still didn't work. I'll have to play in SD for now. Pretty hard to play TLoU in SD though

I'm a student, money is tight and the PS4 doesn't play PS3 games

This is your answer right here. But just in case, is your PS3 plugged into the wall?

I understand, but explain that to the video game gods that killed your system.

My PS2 broke soon after the PS3 came out. It suddenly stopped reading discs, though I didn't get my PS3 until 2 years after it came out.

SD can work but it'll be hard AF to adjust

Sounds like your PS3 is screwed if the usual tricks don't work. Either get a PS4, or if your really tight on money wait a couple months and pick up a used PS3 for cheap to replace it when everyones traded in theirs and the demand is low

Why don't just use the AV cables?

This is some BS. I've been doing the Video Setting Reset thing about 5 times a day since this happened and still nothing. I can play on AV on the bigger TV but that means I can't play online or update my games, or have the PS3 in my room where neither HDMI nor AV works, but I'll have a connection which I can't use anyway.

Step 4 onwards doesn't happen. I'll describe what happens when I do a manual reset:

I go on display settings then video output settings. I select HDMI and it tells me "press x to change", so I press x. I then (with the remote) change the source from AV to HDMI and the screen goes black for a few seconds then when it gets to HDMI it says "No signal". I wait for about 30 more seconds then switch back to AV to see the "select the type of connector" option list.

It's infuriating, even more so when people like Al Thornton come in the thread, see that people have given suggestions but can't comprehend that I tried them and they aren't working for me, even though I wrote it in plain English.

Thanks for still trying to help though six
