I've been feeling real sorry for him. He has a crappy team with no heart, his home fans are booing him, and he's lost all interest in playing for the New York Knicks (a team he's idolized as a child).
I hope he goes to a team that can lead him to his first championship. It must burn him that he's the only player chosen in the Top 5 in the 2003 NBA Draft to not have a chip.
While people see him joining Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers, I see a flaw in that situation. Why would Carmelo want to join a Lakers team, that by next year will be filled with completely new players with ZERO chemistry together.
I do see Carmelo joining a team where the fans aren't as demanding as LA or NY, but the atmosphere could be just as rewarding. I'm speaking of the DALLAS MAVERICKS!
Yes, Dallas, the forgotten city in Texas. Next year, Dallas has the cap space to sign some Max Players and I think they'll finally find their guy to give that money to in Carmelo Anthony. Dirk will resign and take a paycut just so Dallas can sign some other Free Agents from this deep class.
Imagine this:
Calderon
Ellis
Anthony
Dirk
Dalembert
Carmelo can finally play for a team where he isn't the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd option for a team. That starting lineup just oozes offense. Adding to that lineup is Brandon Wright, Wayne Ellington, Shane Larkin, and Ricky Ledo who all will be under contract with the Dallas Mavericks next year. That gives Dallas the freedom to sign some more veterans and defensive players.
Carmelo can even be mentored by Dirk Nowitzki on the art of leading a team and trusting your teammates, especially in the playoffs. Carmelo can also finally go back to playing his real position at Small Forward and get back to domination opposing defenders in the post.

He's coming to the Lakers. And in unrelated news commissioner Adam Silver will announce that teams will now play with 2 balls.

His wife would probably want to move back to L.A. and try to convince Melo to sign with the Lakers.

Why would Melo want to join LA with an aging Kobe Bryant and an empty roster. Teams with completely new teams usually don't start off with great chemistry.
And why in the hell would Melo want to stay another year in NY playing with guys who lack heart, are never healthy, and constantly have off-the-court problems. Melo isn't happy in New York. Why would you want to stay another year in a place that will boo you every home game.

Mavs don't want Melo. We don't need him. We need another big center. Give me Asik and Garcia over Melo any day as a fit for this Mavs team.
Only way I want Melo is if we get him and then flip him for players we actually need.

He's playing so poorly and yet everyone wants him on their team.
He isn't going to Dallas or LA, he will opt out his contract next season and re-sign with the Knicks for 120m/5years.
I feel sorry for the Knicks fans.

Not a fan of this career loser. Hard to root for him. He's another Deron/Dwight underachiever just collecting money.

No he's not. We suck because of nonexistent gaurd play and having our bigs injured. Him and Bargs are killing it

I don't know, he did just that when he went to NY. They gutted the roster to get Melo. I kinda got the idea that he went to NY just because it was a big market and he wanted to be somewhere that was happening, as opposed to Denver (not bashing Denver, but it's pretty tame compared to NY). So why leave a winning team that made it deep into the playoffs a couple of times to go to a team like the Knicks? I think LA is actually possible if things don't work out in NY.

Why the uproar...things will go back to the way they were once Chandler returns
as for him moving...it's NY or LAL, Lala will have much say in the decision.

There's no way Melo leaves the Knicks. It's HIS team, in one of the biggest markets in the US. Why the hell would he give that up?

should have never left denver. just saying

Yes, Denver is having tons of success since he left, much more than the Knicks.
I think Melo stays and the Knicks improve the roster around him, but he never wins a championship.

No you can't. I'm a big fan of Melo and I've always rooted for the Knicks but this season ends up in a second round exit at best. The PG's are not starting caliber and everyone but Melo and Prigs are spaced out on defense. Shumpert has let everyone blow by him this season because he's gambling for steals in a fashion that's twice as bad as Allen Iverson back in the day.
JR Brick's best game of the season was a 21 point 8/19 game and he has been in iso-step back 20 footer chuck mode the second he came back. That fvgt needs to take it to the rim but he'd rather just continue to shoot 30%. There's absolutely no spacing for Melo and he has to work hard for every single shot he's taking. Couple that with the fact that the Knicks, (him and JR especially) aren't getting any calls, even at home, and you have a recipe for making your franchise player want to leave.

we have chemistry issues but we still can fix it, we have to find the right set of players that will work together perfectly, we have to take smart shots and excel with better passing and passion. Our players are capable and our coach is too, we just have to wait til Chandler comes back and give Stoudemire minutes.

Melo averaging 26 points per game on 22 field goal attempts, shooting 41% for the season, is killing it?
Boy, you must have thought he was murdering it in the playoffs last year huh :oldlol:

I think the chances of him leaving is significantly great.
One of the major complaints about this organization is the lack of consistency. The owner changes front office, gm's, coaches and personnel so often. Dolan never seems to get it right. I dont think Melo resigns and I dont think the Knicks will be able to get another significant player for a while.
With that said eventually something has to change.

You can't deny that Melo is trying "Hard". 19 rebounds in the last game. He doesn't have a bonafide 2nd option that can relieve the burden on him.
I'm unfamiliar with the Lakers cap space but I would assume they will have roughly the same space to attract a Kevin Love or an Aldridge type of player?
I think he will stay.

It's still early in the season and while his scoring efficiency is down, he really has no legit second option on the team. Bargs has been playing well, but JR has been horrible.
Melo is still putting up 26/10 on 51% TS which is just below Iverson's 51.8% during his MVP season...

Melo never has good efficiency. Also if you actually are a great scorer you will score great regardless of whether you have a 2nd option or not.
Iverson was an overrated chucker so using Iverson's historic inefficiency to justify Melo's is a no go.
Melo is not even a star. He is very overrated and is not a good scorer.

05' to 08' Melo scored at around 48-49% FG and right around 56-57% TS.
Last season, Melo was scoring champ with about 56% TS.
Those are fairly efficient numbers for a scorer. It's not like he's Rudy Gay.

My understanding is that the Lakers are going to be pushing hard for Melo or Lebron (a waste of time, since Lebron clearly loves playing for the Heat) and may have the space to do so. They're unlikely to get either, in my opinion.
I don't think that the Knicks are going to continue sucking dick because they're trying to win in a division that's trying to tank, plus they obviously miss Chandler. They're a better team than how they've been playing so far.
Why don't the Knicks trade for Asik?

He is playing hard but if his team keeps sucking he might get frustrated and look to leave a la LeBron Cleveland. We'll see though. If I had to bet, i'd say he stays.

I don't understand why some Laker fans want Melo. He's an overrated cancerous teamate who plays no defense. But we do have Kobe who does bring out the best of his teammates so maybe Kobe can turn Melo around but I'd rather not take that chance.

I don't get it either, but I think Melo and Kobe actually get along with each other. As a Laker fan I'd rather have a player like Rondo or Westbrook.
