View Full Version : Kobe's ankle game vs Lebron's headband game

Game 4 2000 NBA Finals, coming off missing a game due to a badly sprained ankle, Kobe steps up big on the road as Shaq fouls out in OT (after having a huge game).

Kobe's statline: 28 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 blocks, 14-27 FG

How does this compare to Lebron's headband game?

What game is the headband game? What is that?

Doranku

Kobe bailed out his team after Shaq fouled out while Ray Allen bailed LeBron out after a bricked 3 and a turnover.

Pretty easy decision.

I'm going with Ankle Game because one guy was hurt while the other involved a part of accessory, like a purse.

Yea, I already found out and didn't know Lebron fans were giving this game a label like it's significant. I didn't even know what Ankle Game was till you described it.

Oh well, I'm going with Kobe's game from what I mentioned previously. One involved a physical limitation and the other was an article of clothing, which does not limit his game unless he's insecure about his head.

no pun intended

Lebron single-handedly brought them back from the brink of losing the finals, yes Ray Ray topped it off with one of the greatest shot ever but Lebron initiated the whole thing.

Initiated what? The 8 pts swing in the last 2 min?

Lebron shot 42% from the floor and had 6 disastrous turnovers. And he was no show in the OT (and the first 3 quarters).

Kobe's game was near perfect, despite being only 21 and playing on a bum ankle.

3:18 left in the 4th quarter:
Spurs: 84
Heat: 87
Turnover by Lebron James, offensive foul

0:39
Spurs: 91
Heat: 89
Turnover by Lebron JAmes, lost ball, steal by Leonard.

0:28
Spurs: 93
Heat: 89
Turnover by Lebron James, bad pass, steal by Ginobili.

Then miracles happened.

The fact that Lebron stans gave this game a name is hilarious. Of all things, they call it the headband game, jokes about Lebron's head never goes away. Even when they are trying to make something relevant which it really isn't.

The one thing I remember about that game was Allen.

OH we're talking about the Ray Allen game? I remember the Ray Allen game :applause: Wasn't sure what people meant referring to a head band, a head band is just a piece of clothing. Ray Allen however, saved Miami with his game winner that night, his big moment makes that otherwise typical game very significant.

Are we serious? Kobe's ankle game, easily. I remember it like it was yesterday how he took over with Shaq on the bench, hobbled, actually being defended and taking over in OT at such a young age. I remember this specific crossover and jumper over Reggie that was a nail in the coffin, MJ type shot.

LeBron's "Headband Game" honestly was pretty weak. His game 7 was much better, but even then the Spurs weren't even defending him. They dared him to shoot it, and it took 7 whole games for him to finally have the cajones to capitalize on them disrespecting his skill set.

MJ's Flu Game > Kobe's Ankle OT > LeBron's "Head Band Game"

If you were gonna talk about any LeBron playoff game you'd want to go with game 5 (?) Vs pistons in 2007 or 2012 game 6 ECF. True beast mode unlocked.

Those were great games, no doubt.

My only problem is that his fans pretend that he was playing against the 2004 Pistons and 2008 Celtics.

In reality, both of those teams were on their last legs.

The difference between the 2012 Celtics and the 2013 team is huge, 2012 was pretty much their last Harrah (sp?) And once rondo got injured their hopes of making an impact in the postseason went away, especially considering how he plays like a top 2/3 pg in the game in the playoffs.
My point is had the Celtics won the 12 series they probably would've beaten the thunder, with rondo minimising Westbrooks impact, so its not like James was beating up on a half dead nets kg and pierce.
As for the pistons game it was just a clutch takeover by a 22 year old. Few individuals in league history could replicate that performance.

Horrible comparison.

The whole reason Ray Allen had the chance to tie the game was because of Lebron bringing the Heat back.

"Fans" left the arena because the idiots thought no way in hell Miami is going to come back.

Lebron and entirely Lebron was the sole reason Ray Allen had the opportunity to bring the game into overtime.

I thank Lebron James and Ray Allen for their heroics which brought us another NBA Championship.

LeBron and entirely LeBron's performance through 6 3/5 games was the reason the Spurs were even in a position to win :lol

Anyways this is Kobe easily. He was actually injured and dominated the game. This isn't like Willis Reed walking onto the court with barely any in-game impact just scoring 4 points and getting the crowd fired up. Kobe straight up took over.

LeBron's G6 last year and G5 vs Detroit were much better performances to pick here.

The comeback was sparked by role players hitting threes, Lebron did not want the responsibility and was bailed out. He didn't start hitting shots till the momentum had been shifted by his teammates

what in the actual f)ck is a headband game?

Kobe's fourth quarter takeover is remember by many and he was only 21 years old. Shaq fouled out,
pivotal game 4 to give lakers a 3-1 lead in the finals.

Lebron's "head band game" consists of his headband falling off and him getting bailed out by Jesus.

LeBron fans weren't old enough to watch those yet. They don't realize how awesome that series was. The Lakers, led by Kobe, destroyed the best team in the West. It was the biggest margin of victory in a Conference Finals series ever in history.

They also for some reason forget the Suns series when Kobe was hitting ridiculous shots from all over the floor in the WCF.

They also forget the insane comeback against the Blazers, where Kobe had the signature pass to Shaq (what, passing is okay when LeBron does it, but not Kobe?).

His Finals series against Orlando is nothing to sneeze at either.
