Well I been thinking bout getting a pool table in my apartment cause there's a lot of open space and I like shooting pool even though I'm not any good.
I see this one at Walmart: http://www.walmart.com/ip/EastPoint-Sports-89-Brighton-Billiard-Table/27173025
For $297

Do you guys know any other good starter pool tables that's not that expensive?

People always gravitate to pool tables. Even people that don't know how to play pool. Plus that's a pretty good price I'd say go for it

A new pool table that is 297 is a shitty ass pool table. If you're serious about getting something that's not a laughing stock it will run you 4-600 used. You'll need about 3 friends to help you move it and you'll have to know how to properly level it and re-felt. Find a solid used slate 8 footer and make sure the bumpers aren't dead.

I don't think it's a bad purchase for your situation. Just make sure you utilize it otherwise it'll become a piece of furniture everyone just leans on and rolls blunts up on.
I dunno jack about pool tables, but I'd try to find one cheaper than $300
True.
Me and friends go out to play pool a lot but I haven't had too many people at my place lately though so idk. I'm afraid it would just sit there like you said.
That's actually the cheapest table I've seen. Others are like $500 and up

This.
I am a pool player and competed 3 nights out of the week in weekly tournaments. That's how I tried to get spending money one summer in college. That is piece of crap table but if OP needs it to fill space in a room then go for it.
A good table will run you upwards to 1k used. Is that a 9 foot, 8 foot or 7 foot table? Usually a 9 foot table is a 3 piece slate. A pool table is heavy as hell too.
Bumpers are probably dead and garbage. The felts probably sucks too. Table may play slow or plays crooked.

I play but I'm not good for real.
I was thinking bout a pool table or air hockey table.

For $197

I seen the combo tables with ping pong, pool, and hockey for decent price also

I don't wanna pay that much for a pool table. I'd rather get a bigger tv for that price.
The reviews are good on it.
It's not like I'm gonna be having pro tournaments on it

I'm going to tell you what I told a friend of mine. Get the freaking pool table. A pool table has more class than a air hockey table even though that's going to be a junk pool table.
I am going to tell you what I told my buddy.....Look at it this way, that pool table is $300 and for that money you have just furnished an entire room minus little things to put on the wall and such.
That is cheaper than getting a new couch, coffee table, end table and loveseat and television. You mentioned it's an apartment, therefore, you are not going to be there forever. Get the pool table.
Let me warn you though, the table is garbage.

the price seems cheap enough that it wouldn't matter if it ends up just sitting there.
go with the cheap one and if you never use it then you won't feel too bad.

How you know the table is garbage?
They got one out on the floor at my local Walmart and it feels good and sturdy.
Feels the same as the ones in the club and stripclubs I go to. Same size also

People reviewing tables they bought at Wal-Mart don't know what the **** they're talking about. You can get it, and it might be fun, but it will be a 300 dollar paperweight that has zero resale value when you're through with it.
If you spend 4-600 you'll be able to get your money back when you sell it.

It's garbage because it costs 297 dollars new. Enough said. It's like asking why is a brand new Mustang garbage that cost 10K. You know inherently based on the price. Even below average tables that are used, are expensive.

You still want a long term investment. Tables are a hassle once they become space takers. This table will not last.
As duece and 9er were saying there are major differences between this walmart table and a good Dufferin built table. Bumpers, felt, slate, all these things need to be premier and last to have a good quality pool experience. This table will not provide that. Plus if you buy a table at a specialty place they will assemble and calibrate it for you. Building yourself is pretty sketch.
You sound like you are already invested in this idea, but as a pool player all my life and surrounded by people who've bought home tables, 9er and duece are giving you sound advice. If you want to actually be good at pool I'd suggest to save the $300.

Huh?
So you buying shit for other people?:biggums:
When I buy stuff it's for me to enjoy.
Sound systems are played out and I'm gonna get a bigger tv also.
Most women don't care about nice tvs and sound systems.
Women want to go out to the movies not sit in.

I get what they are saying but I'm not trying to be a pro.
This is just something to kill time while me and some buddies drink before going out or watching a game.
I just don't see myself paying over 600 for a table and then turning around and selling it for less.
I understand that they are saying I would get tired of it and won't play it anymore but I don't see how I could :confusedshrug:
I would like to thank everyone for their input also

I'm not into sound systems like that.
I could just turn up the volume on my tv and feel the same way

and the pool table isnt going to get old? except its the same type of game over and over and it takes up massive space. a sound system you can listen to new music and it is good for games and movies.

Probably a couple hundred bucks.
I recommend you tell them to put Simonis Cloth on it. That's what most professional tables have on them.

If you need a good table mechanic to put it on let me know. I can find you one. I post on a billiards forum.

I need to practice my billiard skills. Back when I was a teenager we played regularly at my place. We have a pool rent table for rent business from 2001 to 2003.
IDK. I need to start practicing again. Last time I played Billiard was almost 2 years ago.
