View Full Version : Can Michael Beasley still turn it around?

Having been labeled a bust for most of his career, Beasley is currently averaging 10.9/2.4 in 15.6 minutes a game, shooting at an efficent clip of.561 While nothing spectacular, they are nevertheless quite efficient numbers. He's also been really trying on defence and he is working hard on his attitude(at least what we can see from his on court actions).

Is this going to be his year to get him back on track?

On a slightly humorous side note, this is the year that Beas overtake Rose   Not to discredit Rose or anything, but he's really been disappointing this season:( :(

the 2008 NBA draft was a pretty good draft. If we were to redo the draft, knowing how the players will develop up till this day, how will the draft be looking like? Rose did got a MVP, but health has been a concern for him so far.

The original draft
1 Rose
2 Beasley
3 Mayo
4 Westbrook
5 Love
6 Gallinari
7 Gordon
10 Brook lopez
11 Bayless
13 Brandon Rush
17 Hibbert
18 McGee
19 Hickson
21 Ryan Anderson
24 Ibaka
25 Batum
26 George Hill
31 Pekovic
35 D Jordan
36 Asik
45 Dragic

Well I guess what I meant wasnt playing up to his pick potential, but rather at least have a solid career onwards, relative to his bust label

Heck yeah he could. The brother could have a pretty solid career chipping in on average a good 15-19 a night, if he wanted to. I look at the Alex English and Benard King types from back in the day. People forget that Alex English was just your average player for a few years. He landed in the right situation (Nuggets) and took off! The same could happen to Beasley. Check the attitude at the door. Go to work and do well. We all know Beasley can play. He just has to do it and believe in himself.

Damn, Miami really ****ed up. Wade could've been playing with Love, Westbrook or Hibbert. The Bron thing saved them but still..

He can become a skinny Antoine Walker if he puts his mind to it.

Except they would have to trade him before signing LeBron and Bosh

Damn.

Another guy who nees the ball in his hands to be effective? And doesn't really stretch the floor, too? While being slow and plodding on defense?

Ya no

Tim Thomas without the insane contract. Which makes his level of production acceptable.

His efficiency has been astounding thus far.

I don't think his game changed much, he just made a lot of shots so far. If he keeps his consistency he might reach his potential.

No they signed Haslem and Miller for 5 mill each, in addition to Chalmers and Joel's cap holds around 1 mill. Beasleys contract was for 5 mill, if he showed more at the time they would have kept him.

But I'd rather say imagine if they traded down qnd picked Love, Westbrook, Hibbert, etc... Also, the two picks immediately following Chalmers in round 2 were Deandre Jordan and Asik.

He's shooting 59% now.

He's got so much more game than Tim Thomas, c'mon.

Difference being he's taking good shots, moving the ball, and playing defence.

I've only seen one Miami game this year and Beas didnt play, but seeing those stats, I wouldnt be surprised if he ended up becoming Wade's replacement with LeBron mentoring him these next few years and when Wade starts slowing down even more.

That's not true, he still takes bad shots. And it's not like he was a selfish player before like Corey Magette. He was always willing to pass the ball, I just think he perceived himself as a player, who should take responsibility and take a lot of shots. As far as the defence goes, he still gets lost from time to time when defending off ball - the difference being he's now on a good defensive team that plays better team defense and covers some of the mistakes. Also I think he understands that he's not expected to be the go to guy in Miami which I guess helps him to focus on other aspects of his game too. It's not like he didn't show effort to defend before (the way I think James Harden doesn't) - he was always willing to defend.

LBJ and Wade would throw him the ball off of pick and rolls and drives to the basket. And Lopez is a good outside shooter.

It would have worked.

And I know these stats are absolutely useless but Beas is averaging 26 PPG and 6 RPG per 36.

He can be really valuable in the playoffs, giving them that extra scorer they will need.

Maybe he is best suited for a role as a third or fourth option.

In his other stops, they tried to make him a first or second option, and clearly he's not that.

I think Miami is a great place for him to grow. He has extremely good "teachers" around him, and the club has been through multiple championship runs now. There is no reason for him to believe hes the best here, so I think he'll more easily buy into the system and become a team player. That's what is so great about the Heat right now, everybody only does what they are good at, and the efficiency numbers show it.
