Well I got a shit load of money sitting in the bank and losing value to inflation so it wouldn't be a bad idea... Plus I worked 16 hours overtime last weekend...

They're over-priced but they're still good headphones. The customer service is also top notch. I've had mine for 3 years now.

How is that quality for Solo HD's?? From the ones I've tried, mixr looks like the best ones... But Studios are also good...

I got myself these for a very low price (about 30$ :lol , dont ask how) even though I never liked Beats before. They are very quality and it seems like they can last forever, music sounds good but nothing spectacular.

But if Im about to spend so much money on that, I would definitely buy some Sennheiser headphones. Thats the best quality you can get.

Believe me, working in a store with those stuff gives you a big opportunity to get some high quality headphones for next to nothing. I won't even mention working in storehouses...
Its so easy to manipulate with the broken stuff that customers return and with bills from them, just if you are good friends with some people who work there :lol

And once I have ordered a headphones from Amazon (I think AKG) , and I canceled the order, and wanted to buy other ones, the Philips. IDK what happened but they sent both of them, and charged only those Philips. I guess Im just lucky with that. :D

Dont think a lot of that. If you are not in some professional sh!t and just for casual use, you will hardly notice some difference between them and other. Just buy what you like more.

True, I just want one for in the work/office and one for home when I listen to my music for real... But there are so many different types of Dre headphones

their a rip off, if you just want them for the look why even bother asking how they are? You either pay extra for the look or you buy a cheaper but better quality set from another brand.

MKBHD dropping knowledge in his personal top 5 video...

His top 5 headphones include 1 pair of bluetooth ear buds (which I've tried out and are ungodly if most of your devices require bluetooth)

Anything made by Dre is garbage. If you go Monster anything for earbuds the Turbines are okay, but you have find better sounding earbuds at a lower price.

They're overpriced.

If you want something that's stylish with a good sound get the Sen Momentum.

I have the VModa M100 and they're perhaps the best 'all around' portable cans on the market.

My wife gave me the M100 cause she knew I wanted them for a while, but that was before I heard the Sen Momentum.

Either one are a good 'all around' choice.

If you want something for solely critical listening (audiophile) then def go somewhere else, and NOT the Beats.

I've had cats stop me and ask about my Moda M50 in the past, Im sure the same will happen with the M100 when I wear them in public.

Of what I've heard, the JVC FX700. Just be prepared to drop some coin.
damn those are pricey.

there are not enough headphone specific stores for consumers. we just have to go by word of mouth and of course drop the coin first.

The (2013) model Beats are much better than previous models. Read around, here are some measurements that claim that the beats on are par / better than some "audiophile" brands.

Red line is the Beats measurements

For durability, the 2013 are nearly indestructible(Don't know about long term durability):

Comparison between the VModa M100 and the Beats 2013

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtL4GnlDA9I

The difference in sound is negligible. The M100 may sound better but they lack the noise cancelling feature of the beats. The two headphones are comparable, could go with either based on other people's impressions. I don't own the beats 2013.

It really depends on what you want. Beats are wayy overpriced. Relative to cheap headphones they have very good quality, but with the same money you can buy headphones that are way better, I recommend the sennheiser momentum. Or the ath m50 as previously mentioned.

I did a boat-load of research when I got my headphones about a year and a half ago and all signs pointed towards Sennheiser. I got the HD 380 pros and they are awesome. The only thing that is unfortunate is the super long and heavy cord, but you get used to it. I heard beats when they first came out like 5 years ago or whenever and they were way too bassy... The reviews were the same (a lot of poor reviews) back when I was looking. Beats definitely are a fashion statement as others have said... I mean Jordan shoes, Beats headphones, and I phone are about as contrived as you can get. If you are looking for function, I seriously doubt they are a smart buy... although the graph that red posted is interesting. As popular as they are, they should be able to sink some money into getting some awesome engineers to produce a top of the line quality model.

Beats and Monster are the same thing. Anyway, they are OK but overpriced. If you have a couple hundred ready to blow on cans then get some Sennheiser or Audio-Technicas. You won't regret it.

DeuceWallaces
11-25-2013, 04:09 PM
Ah, I didn't realize they split.

Well, yeah, if you want sloppy pounding bass it might be hard, but if you want precisely reproduced bass then a nice pair of open back Senn's would be nice. You can usually get sick deals on Amazon if you look out. Got my 595s for 165 a couple years ago.

andgar923
11-25-2013, 04:13 PM
Monster used to manufacture Beats but not anymore. Not for like a year and a half, maybe more. And even when they were they had some stuff more geared towards audiophile types than their Beats line.

But yeah, Senn and AT are both great brands; I've owned multiple sets by both. An ex still has my ATH-SQ5s.:facepalm I'm guessing JSH wants something stylish and bassy which will be a little tougher to find with Senn methinks.

Those V-Modas are probably right up his alley if he's looking for portable cans rather than IEMs or full-size.

The VModas are perhaps the best 'consumer' based cans, and even the best audiophile portable all around cans.

Some complain about the mid not being as good as the M80s, but I don't notice the difference (I own both). The bass is as PERFECT as it gets, it doesn't leak or drown out the mids or highs. Treble sounds natural just the right amount. I was afraid that they'd be too big since they're considered 'full' sized cans and I'd end up looking like a TeleTubby wearing them but it's not the case. They are full sized but don't look it, they're perfect imo.

I prefer the bass on these than in the Beats, sounds more natural and not as bloated. With the Beats (at least with past models) it sounds as tho you're listening to a sub bass on everything that has a low end. Very synthetic and bloated, not everything needs to sound boomy.

The M100 are the best for modern genres. I wouldn't prefer these for classical or jazz (although they're not bad per se). But they're great for every genre from pop, classic rock, modern rock, and specially hip hop, EDM, etc.etc.

One can't go wrong with the M100, I honestly feel every person should have one (even audiophiles).

Let's see some pics. Plus the speakers are only one part. What is your amp and preamp? What's your audio source? Furthermore, if you know audio you'd know that high quality cans are a great investment with the proper headphone/preamp.

I do have a home system. But I do most of my music listening at work, and also a lot on-the-go. Shopping, the gym and what have you. So I end up listening via headphones way way more.

Thank me later.

Not again. There was a thread that someone called me out on my stuff and I proceeded to take pictures.

It actually got people way more angry and jealous.

I don't think I want to do it with my home system. It may crash ISH.

The fact that I got Martin Logans should be enough proof as it is. It's not like anyone who even pretends to have a nice system can bring up or even know what my Logan's are.

It's not like I said I got a fancy Bose system.

andgar923

Why are you guys spending money on headphones when you should be getting home systems for your listening pleasure.

Being an audiophile is an expensive and time consuming 'hobby'.

It doesn't just take money, it takes time, patience and dedication as well. Even then, your average person can't discern from the different fidelities.

And like it was already mentioned, having the proper cans IS part of being an audiophile.

Another factor preventing some from becoming full fledged audiophiles is the music options. Most people here are modern music fans (rock, rap) and unfortunately there isn't many options out there. Not to many quality printed vinyl records are available. Not to many people are gonna go out and wait a week to download a FLAC rip of a vinyl album (if it's even available), let alone go out and buy it. If you're a true audiophile you'd know that the vast majority of vinyl records worth a damn are classical and jazz. The best one can do (and even then) is SACD versions of their favorite albums, and even some will debate whether or not the quality is that great.

But like Deuce mentioned, post pics (with proof).

Not that I don't believe you, Im simply curious in what you have.

The Ultrasone Edition 10 actually measures poorly, and is out performed by much cheaper headphones. (Never heard them, going by what others have said)
