View Full Version : Anybody here ever prepare a Thanksgiving meal?
My gf flew home to family on the east coast for the holiday, so I prepared an early Thanksgiving meal for the 2 of us before she left. It was my first time making a Thanksgiving meal.
My first turkey:

Slice it to see if juicy enough.
Also, where are the extras?
Should be some unions, bell peppers, carrots, ect on the side of the turkey for flavor, seasoning.

Lol you made a full turkey for two people? In the future a more sensible option might be a duck, goose, or bone in breast of turkey.

It's thanksgiving so he felt like making a turkey for his girlfriend. I think he was aware it was more food than they needed.

That's an incredible amount of food for 2 people so I gave him 3 suggestions for traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas meals that are suitable for two people, although I appreciate your phenomenal interpretation of his original post.

What about a meal for the next day? That turkey will last well over a week. You can do many thinks with leftover Thanksgiving turkey. Turkey sandwiches, turkey salad, ect.

A goose and a bone in turkey breast will provide multiple left over meals, while a duck will give you 1 more small lunch if you gorged yourself on the initial helping.

I interpreted it as you criticizing something that didn't need to be criticized. I think i was pretty spot on.

that turkey looks raw
Niko, you were 100% right.
L.Kizzle, you were also right in the sense that I planned on having left overs. I've eaten most of the left overs already. It was juicy (as good as any turkey I've ever had before)
Neither myself nor my gf are big fans of those extras, so I didn't make it with them. It did have onion and garlic powder, in addition to salt and pepper. Side dishes were minimal because of knowing she wouldn't get a chance to enjoy most of them due to getting full and then having to leave on an airplane the next day, so we only had mashed potatoes, gravy, and the stuff from inside the turkey.

I didn't tell him to not make a turkey you idiot. I laughed at the amount of food that is for two people, because you know, that's a shit ton of food for two people. Considering I make Thanksgiving and Easter holiday meals for 2 people going back 6-7 years I offered some suggestions for the future that he might like to try and might be more reasonable for just the two of them. Stop being an idiot prick. Furthermore, a Thanksgiving and Christmas goose or ducks are very popular. No need to be incredulous because you lack culinary experience. Arguing with a bunch of kids who couldn't cook their way out of a box of Hamburger Helper.

lol, my bad. I obviously meant stuffing.
