For those of you wondering, Kobe was having a press conference about his new contract and he was asked if he thinks he can surpass KAJ on the all time scoring list. Kobe answered "I don't even know what I need to do for that", and then one of the guys from ESPN said 6717 points. Kobe responded with "6717? yea but you're at ESPN, so you're probably wrong"

What he say about Stern?

I don't thin he can do 6717 in 3 years. Say he plays 60 games this year then 80 in the next 2 seasons each that's 220 games. 6717/220 = 30.5 ppg. He's not doing that.

he was like NBA can't veto this one. In a reference to Stern when he vetoed CP3's trade.

It's an exclusively regular season record.

It's an exclusively regular season record.
Which is why it's exclusively stupid.
Playoff points should be worth more if anything.
If you combine regular season and playoffs, what do the point totals look like for the top 5?
oh the horror

I'm willing to bet Kobe will be saying a lot of candid things these last two years as he's heading out the door. Figures why not? Dude has paid his dues. Time to go out all guns blazing.
Should be fun to watch.

How is it stupid? A lot of players would be penalized considering they won't make the playoffs.
Should the MVP and Finals MVP also be combined?

That's the thingt that I like about the current Kobe. He's Mr. Straight to the Point. I think he really wants to surpass Jabbar's scoring record.

Interesting. I honestly didn't know this. I would have thought points are points but I guess they have a separate and playoff scoring record.

Funny thing is that they were wrong about it (assuming if this is the exact quote and not a typo). He needs 6771 to pass KAJ and not 6717.
He currently has 31617.
KAJ has 38387.

No, but I do think that Finals MVP should be abolished, and it should be changed to "Playoff MVP."

Kobe was just showing his knowledge that Stern vetoed as temporary owner of the Hornets and not as NBA commish. Otherwise if Stern was all powerful, he COULD veto this one.
