they supposedly like how he plays with Kyrie, I don't get it. He's looked like a decent prospect and it's hard to see how he went undrafted with his leadership and passing abilities but surely he shouldn't be starting :facepalm

They should give the kid some minutes even if he's struggling. What are they going to do? Lose? They probably aren't going anywhere this year (too early to say), and they are a young team who needs to build chemistry together. Keeping him on the bench does nothing for the team.

tinfoil sarcasm hat on

maybe Lebrons people have told the cavs he will only return if they can look terrible and incompetent this year, then when he returns next season everyone will drop the act and play normally and it'll look like it was all Lebron who fixed them :applause:

Do you want the real reason?

The decision was made to bring Waiters off the bench. By default, CJ Miles became the starting SG. CJ had actually been playing well this season. Not that I agreed with the decision, but it could at least be justified by CJ's play.

But, in his first game as a starter, CJ was injured. So, the question became whether to continue with the "Dion off the bench" philosophy or go back to the standard starting five.

Obviously, the decision was made to continue with the experiment. It hasn't yielded great success, obviously... Though Dion appears to be playing pretty well in the last few games.

It should be noted that his minutes haven't really been cut... he's just playing with different units. Dion played 33 minutes tonight to Delly's 8 minutes.

At the end of the day, people make too big a deal over who is on the floor at the opening tip. More important is who is on the floor at the end.

They need to play the Russian kid he's actually got size/IQ and a good looking stroke and is the fit you want next to Irving, get him some confidence.

no pun intended

30 off the bench tonight. Mike Brown needs to free Waiters.

Cavs are a disaster and there's nothing to lose

PS: How do you blow a #1 pick on Bennett? :facepalm

Waiters fits better in his curent role than as a starter

Something doesn't compute with your logic OP.

Waiters had a pretty pedestrian start to the season for a player of his caliber. Mike Brown decides to shake things up by bringing Dion in as a 6th man, though not cutting his minutes and still having him on the floor in the important moments.

Waiters responds by scoring over 20 points in three of the last four games and has 30 tonight. And the Cavs have won 2 out of 3 games with him in that role.

This results in you calling Mike Brown an idiot for making the move? Makes sense.
