Updated for end of year totals on 2nd page.

Not a whole lot of room separates the top of the pack here. While CP3 is ahead of the rest, it is likely that only two other will keep up with the near 21ppg 7 assist average many of them are playing pretty close to now. Who is on the upward side and who do you see getting separation? At some point MCW will hit a wall but what a start!

Point guard more than any other position really isnt just about stats. Sure, if your stats suck youre probably not very effective, but you cant really rank point guards going based just on statistics. You have to watch them to see how they control the game.

no pun intended

The one that is shooting nearly 55% FG, playing less than 30 MPG, and having the #1 seed in their conference.

Tony Parker and Lillard run their teams as good as anybody on the list (CP3 excluded) and their stats now definitely don't put them above the others. Curry wins a lot of games on his scoring prowess and its not really seen here. MCW has the probably the best all around stats but he's going to be the least effective overall which is ok. Kyrie, has good stats but his head has been in a fog. Westbrook has a ton of value that is not seen statistically...

So yeah you are right, the position has more dimensions than the other positions. Since we know who Parker and CP3 are, we don't concern ourselves with their output that much - Westbrook too. But these other guys will have their teams settle in, and it will affect their productivity and impact some. Its a guessing game on who will improve overall and/or statistically.

I don't care about all those stats. Give me CP3 any day of the week.

Really wish he would have come to the Mavs. C'est la vie.

purely from everything i know about what a point guard should be, its CP3.

there's scoring point guards like derrick rose and steph curry.

there's combo guards like westbrook and m. c. williams.

but there's only one great pure point guard in the league. and thats CP3.

I know you said great but Rondo and Lillard are they pure to you?

Rondo,Rubio,Deron Williams,Lilliard,Nash.

And Jason Kidd would of been in that discussion if he didn't retire last season.

i really hate this pure point guard bs... who cares if they are pure..do what you are good at to help your team win..It depends on how the team is built. Cp3 is not the clear cut best...he just plays on the best squad.

Chris Paul easily separates himself from the pack this season, and it isn't much of a debate.

Dude is being more aggressive, but his assist numbers are out of this damn world. Throw in his turnovers, well, lack thereof at least, and how well the Clippers are doing on the year as well, to boot.

More of a battle for second place.

Chris Paul just has that something imo the other's don't in terms of making the game easy and taking control (other's have it but not at the same level), Parker is right behind him but he's a different player I don't know if there is another PG that put's on effective/controlled pressure like Parker does he's also imo the best finishing PG in the NBA in terms of going to the rim.

The rest of them are excellent but imo the PG ranking's in terms of top 10-15change daily pretty much while the other positions are pretty set and takes a fairly long while for one to move up or down the list.

Been surprised that Jrue Holiday has not done better so far I was expecting big thing's from him this season.
