2 first rounders for a player who wants out of his current situation when he's going to be making $15 million next season?

Do they want two 2014 picks?

Would be hilarious if true

The Knicks could give away their 2018 and 2020 picks. I wouldn't put it past the Knicks.

Have any of you guys done business... ever? If you have a firm enough stance in the market you always start with a higher asking price and expect it to be talked down. Morey isn't an idiot, look at what he's done without exploiting the broken rebuild system (intentional tanking).

True, but you don't ask so high that teams don't even want to consider you seriously.

I guess they really don't want to trade Asik then.

Well, yeah. And the issue here is, he doesn't have firm market position. Everyone knows they need to get rid of Asik. They're not in bargaining position. They'll take garbage or take nothing.

Seriously? I thought the Rockets weren't trading Asik anymore?

And I think Asik is a great asset for the team if they use him after Howard. He creates paint presence and is good with the pick and roll. Oh well.

Who's going to do that deal?

So you feel they should keep him and pay him $15 million to back up Howard?

If the picks are in the no. 20-30 range, it's not that big of a price.
That said, there aren't many teams who have the luxury of sending out picks. The Celtics have 10 firsts in the next 5 years, so if they really wanted Asik they could get him.

The Rockets could settle for a first and a 2nd, or a player and a 2nd.

If the Sixers are going to let Evan Turner walk, then Turner and a 2nd for Asik isn't too shabby - that's if they are going to let him walk (which they may not do). Asik starts for the next 4 years, while Noel develops (he'll need that much time).

Weren't they going to keep him until he asked to be traded? I thought they were willing to pay 8 million per season for him. They aren't even that much over the salary cap either.

His minutes could be very valuable. Like it's much more valuable than a starter like Kendrick Perkins or someone like Andrea Bargnani which they make the same or more I believe. But if they can find a replacement, they should go for it.

if the suns hadnt drafted Len, Frye and a pick may have done the trick, and would look pretty decent for both teams.

Wow... that is wishful thinking.

Do the Rockets think they have ANY leverage in this situation? Even if they did have leverage (which they don't), you aren't getting two first round picks for Asik unless they're mid-to-late first rounders.

He doesn't want to play behind Dwight. He got signed there the season prior with the intentions on being their starting center. Which he did a pretty decent job at. Then the Rockets got Howard, asked Asik to play behind him. He's owed $15 million next season and they want him to be a bench player.

They tried playing Howard and Asik at the same time. Didn't work.

True, but you don't ask so high that teams don't even want to consider you seriously.

When Presti first negotiated with Houston about trading Harden, he wanted basically ALL of the Rockets picks, Kevin Martin, chandler parsons and some more filler. Of course you always start high, that way when you offer a slightly lower but still high asking price, other teams are more willing to listen.

And I don't see why the Rockets have no leverage. Ask is still under contract, just because he's unhappy doesn't mean the Rockets 100% must trade him, and Terrence jones is doing a great job at PF. plus for the last few games he's been coming off the bench, backing Howard up like the good bench player he's supposed to be.
