They have the 2ND best player in the nba, top ten pf and westbrook who some claim is the best pg in the league with his 39% fg so will this team be considered a failure if they don't go all the way

If Pacers beat the Heat and have to face the Thunder in the Finals, OKC in 6.
If it's Heat vs Thunder, OKC in 7.

Without Harden this is not a championship caliber team.
Durant and Westbook know this and this is why they will eventually leave this truck stop of a city.

OKC have to win a ring at least some stage with the Westbrook/Durant combo or it would be a huge disappointment/failure. I think they'll get it within the next couple years.

Ibaka top 10 pf?...just barely...he's a role player...he needs to develop more than just a jumpshot and quickly. The thunder over achieve with their roster IMO. They are as top heavy as a team can possibly get. They have the weakest bench unit of the contending teams they need more shooting and they lack an inside presence. Lots of holes but somehow scott brooks manages to get it done with what is essentially a 2 trick pony of a team. OKC doesn't have enough to win a title... Especially if they were to run into MIA or the PACERS

He's a top 10 PF. Sure, David Lee's number might look a little better as he scores more, but Ibaka effects many shots each game and that doesn't show on the stat sheet unless he actually gets the block.
Dude is averaging 15 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.6 blocks @ 55% shooting. I'll take 2.6 BPG over an extra 5 points PG any day.

If the thunder had avid lee instead of Ibaka they'd be better.. if ibaka isnt blocking shots he gets lost in games.. David is a better player... give me the 5 extra points per game and a player that will solve their 3rd option problems.

I think Ibaka is a better fit than Lee on OKC. OKC feeds off Ibaka's defense and energy. I'm not saying he's better than Lee, but I think Ibaka fits their system better.

You could replace Ibaka with Taj Gibson in that system and he would do the same thing with slightly less blocks more post game and better passing. If Ibaka was a legit top 10 PF and game changer on both ends like everyone claims than the Thunder would be favourites to win it all. The Thunder feed of Goatbrook imo and the way Reggie Jackson is playing atm he's impacting the game as much if not more than Ibaka. Jackson has shown the ability to take over a game in short spurts and step up when Westbrook is injured or not playing well.

System?...what system... OKC has lead the league in isolation offense for 3 seasons now..they have no "system"...

I agree... durant is a silent killer that just goes ham but GOATbrook gets them hyped on both ends with his 110% on every possession. Ibaka is very replaceable.

I been trying to stress this point for a long time now in particular at 12million per season.

if you have 2 top 10 players on the same team and those players aren't in their first 3 years as nba players then it should be ring or bust every season for you unless those players themselves have no faith in their abilities.

It's almost as if you're not even watching Ibaka play this year. Right now a lot of the knocks on him as a player no longer apply. His all around defense has greatly improved, he stays engaged and active even when he's struggling offensively and he's developed some semblance of an offensive game that isn't completely reliant on jumpers.
I mean thus shouldn't be surprising. He's only 24 years old and has always had a ton of potential, and comes back every season better than he was the year before.

Yeah, I'm not saying Ibaka is better than Lee, but they really do feed off his defensive energy/presence quite a bit, especially this year. He's taken his defensive game up a notch or two and brings things to that end of the floor that Lee can only dream of doing.

15/10 PF with great defense and 2.5 blocks is not only not top 10 but a role player!

This is easily the best team OKC has had.
Scott Brooks has finally learned how to coach this roster, going smallball down the stretch with Westbrook/Reggie/Lamb/Durant/Ibaka. Using Fisher right. KD is getting nearly 6 assists a game and he's not even dominating the ball at all. Its 100% within the flow of the offense.
This is the deepest team we have ever had. Reggie Jackson and Jeremy Lamb together are far better than Kevin Martin or James Harden individually. Add in Fisher, Collison, and Adams (who is stealing Perkins minutes) and Brooks has been rolling strictly with our 2nd unit for stretches of games and having success every time.

Gotta say, that second unit has been looking pretty damn good. It's unfair how good Reggie is too. He's like another starting caliber PG coming off the bench. Lamb has been shooting extremely well, and Adams is doing what he needs to do. Add to that the always reliable input from Collison and you have a very solid second unit.

Then how can you sit there and say Ibaka hasn't somewhat expanded his offensive game? And OKC's bench, with the way they're playing right now, is on part with the bench of just about every other contender and/or playoff team.
Right now the bench is averaging:
31.7 PPG (15th)
17.1 RPG (6th)
6.9 APG (14th)
.466 FG% (3rd)
40.2 EFF (9th)
10.5 DEFF (5th)
And if you're wondering what EFF and DEF are, go here and click on stats glossary on top right side of the page just above the team stats.
http://www.hoopsstats.com/basketball/fantasy/nba/teamstats/14/7/diffeff/1-1
Point being, teh bench is easily in the to half of the league right now and arguably top 10, compared to having a bench in the bottom third of the league the last several seasons. Not only do they have solid offensive production and balance, it's a good defensive unit, too.
