Basically.

Playing for a title is out of the question but I'd like to see Pierce and KG at least end the season healthy.

all they need to do is have a better record than the craptors, the suxers, the celtics and the freaking knicks and they would be 4th seed... so yeah of course there is a chance :oldlol:

Still haven't found a #CyberMonday deal that tops 37-year-old KG and 36-year-old Paul Pierce for 3 first round picks and a $10M exception.

not a nets fan but why do you say that?

they just need to finnish above of toronto, boston, 76ers and knicks. injured and playing like shit they are two games behind the first three.

those teams will tank hard in the last 3 months of the season and unless knicks start winning like crazy, nets will finnish 4th seed.

Pierce has been awful. This isn't a huge loss short term at all. Net fans are clamoring for role players like Anderson, etc. to play over them.

Not jelly of Nets, they traded their future away for a team with no title chance at all. They basically looked at us, the mess we are, and in one fell swoop went running toward us. They traded away more picks than we have. That's hard to do.

Now i'm jelly of a lot of other teams though. You want a list? It's pretty long.

How about the Celtics - 10 first round picks in the next 5 years. And that is to add onto their young players like Rondo, Bradley, Olynyk, Sullinger, Crawford, et al. And tradeable contracts in Bass and Lee.

I don't know how tradeable those contracts are really Bass is a really good player but he's got 2 years left at $6-7m, I think if he was at $4-5m he's be gone by now.

Bass, Lee and Wallace to NY for Stoudemire. Celtics buy out Stoudemire, and gain 10 million in cap space for summer of 2015. Knicks improve their overall talent.

since when did a teams future lie within the mid to late first round? very rarely to never is the answer. in two years we'll be cap free. that's 100x better than any pick that won't amount to shit.

back on topic. the nets can never catch a break. the starting unit has only played like 4 games together and it's very unfortunate. thankfully, the only player to not get the injury bug is joe. ( knock on wood)

Except for Miami every good team in this league is build on solid draft picks, whether filling out their roster or drafting high for their stars. The Knicks have a free cap sooner than you, I had no idea having no picks but all the cap space was great. We win again!

Trading or swapping every pick until 2018 is not a good thing. I don't care how far the Brooklyn logo is shoved up your butt, you traded EVERY draft to 2018 for Pierce and Garnett. If that's a good thing then signing Amare for 20 million is a ****ing brilliant move too.

Let me learn ya Net fans why draft picks, even low ones are important. Because you will want to trade to upgrade talent, and without picks, expirers don't get you value. If you have big expirer plus picks and young players, you can get a nice piece. But the Nets have no picks. So all you can get is longer salaries in return, and non valuable pieces.

The next nice piece a team wants to dump is not going to the Nets, it's going to the team that puts a pick with it's expiring contract. You have none. For 6 years. The Deron trade, you wouldn't be able to do it now.

It's the same stupidity the Knicks do, but done over a longer period of time. I can't understand people arguing it was a good thing to do if Pierce and Garnett play like this. The Knicks are in this situation perpetually, if we want to make a trade, we need to trade our only good pieces.

Can you give me a scenario the Knicks have max cap space this year, if Melo leaves? Realistic moves that can be made? Just curious...

[QUOTE=CelticBaller]Oh great now the Celtics are making the playoffs.[/QUOTE

How to prevent the Celtics from making the playoffs:

Knicks get

Courtney Lee
Brandon Bass
Gerald Wallace

Celtics get

Amare Stoudemire
3 million in cash

The Celtics get Stoudemire and buy him out. The Celtics clear out minutes for their young players, who develop and struggle, so the Celtics lose.
The Knicks get 3 rotation players, improve and make the playoffs.

In two years the Nets will only have one contract on their books. That's better than any mid to late draft pick. Brook will be 28, Deron 32 and we will have several free agents to choose from that year. We're not totally done this year though. If the Nets can still fully get healthy and be at full force come playoff time, I like their chances against any team in a series. We beat the Heat and missed a game-tying shot against the Pacers. It's a LONG stretch for the Nets to enter the playoffs fully healthy but this season is not gone just yet.

Have you not watched any of the season? You beat the Heat who weren't playing hard at all. The Knicks had exactly the same situation against the Pacers. We must be contenders too I guess. You also got shit on by any team who bothered to run up and down faster than you.

Not true whatsoever. LeBron was in full force. He was bumping and shoving Paul and got into several tangles with him. That was our second game as a unit as well. If your going to cut the Heat slack, cut us some too for it being the second game for us together and the third year for the Heat. To be honest, maybe when I see the Nets defense turn to ape shit tomorrow against the Nuggets, I'll come in this thread saying that we're the worst team ever assembled.:lol

ChuckOakley's ideology is completely other-wordly. He fails to understand that the Heat suffer far more negativity than any other NBA team yet have been the most successful in the last half-decade. Despite that fact, he thinks that me pointing out facts in a negative manner is the reason why the Nets lose. The coaches and players control 100% if they are going to win or lose that night. Not me, not you, not my dog. Just the professional athletes on that court.
