I rekon he'll go for about 18/4/4 on 42%, with his current roster he will be taking a lot of shots and I don't think the current line up will help open up space for good looks either

The amount may turn out to be correct if he comes back blazing but it's just a head scratcher as to why they rushed into it and didn't let him return first. Sure he may look great in practice but so did Oden, Roy, Rose etc

no i have not taken a college course on business. i'm 15 years old. so you think it was smart to sign kobe without seeing him play at least once? get real. regardless of that seeing the owner line his pockets w/ a couple more bucks shouldn't matter to you guys. what should matter is if the team is winning or not.

they paid him that much as a sign of respect for a guy whos been the face of the franchise for 18 years, and this being his last contract, they wanted to say thanks. by paying him before hes even played is a way that lakers management shows respect/thanks to kobe for what hes done with the team during his sole career with LA.

yeah its a lot of money and eats up the cap, but the fact that the team paid him before he came back, shows they have faith and trust in kobe regardless if hes only a shell of his former self or not. His name alone adds millions into the buss' pockets every year. They know this and appreciate it, no doubt.

the contract was all about respect, and its admirable to see a franchise care so much for its player. but yeah, it doesnt help our cap situation, but with gasols 20 mil coming off, and steve nash most likely being bought out with the stretch provision, that gives the lakers around 25 mil in cap space. Theyll be fine.

The current Lakers squad is struggling more offensively than defensively, which is weird for a D'antoni team. I think Kobe will fix that and try to score more, but also facilitate more. I don't think he'll go for as many rebounds as he has in the past.

it is unfair. you can't even use the "oh well he's more entertaining" excuse since at this stage he isn't. i'd much rather see Harden throw it down and Curry swish 3s than Kobe brick shots.

Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming got voted in as starters for the all-star game when they never even played a game. Bryant's getting in as a starter, no matter what he's going to produce.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on his last legs was getting voted to the all-star game even though his production went down considerably. I fully expect Bryant to get those nominations till his career is over.

May not be fair, but it's not that serious of a problem.

Anyways, this is nothing new, when you leave the vote up to fans the fans are going to vote for who they want to see...
