Is there anyone that would honestly take Paul George over Durant?

Hes great and all, but Durant is an all time talent playing at a level only 20 or so players in history have.

Oh stop, talk about overreaction thread. I'm a huge LMA and Blazer fan.. there's no way LMA is top 5. Top 10 in my eyes (just squeezes in), but not top 5.. and Paul George is not better than Durant. He's been unreal and had a huge game tonight, but you're forgetting Durant had a triple-double and stat line last night only matched by Jordan in the last 20 years.

I did. I said he doesn't deserve to be called a superstar yet. And he's played like a top five player thus far in the season. But I'd still have trouble putting him in that list definitively. It's like he's underrated, and overrated at the same time.

Nah, I know you made that one. I thought Conner made one a couple weeks back, but it might not have been about Paul George....

Love is certainly not a top 5 player. His stats are HIGHLY inflated in comparison to his actual impact on the court. At least to my eyes.

Can someone explain this to me? Everytime Love is mentioned, people quickly jump in with his stats being inflated. What, is he padding when the game is out of reach against bench players or something?

How is he worse than Carmelo, Irving, Wall, Davis, or Howard? Okay, Howard's team is doing well this season. The other guys don't have much in the way of better teams.

Would you rather have James Harden or Kevin Love?

I love me some AD, and after the year he's had I guess you could make an argument he's been in the top 5 players this year.. but I just can't put him in a "Top 5 Players" list just yet, or even a top 10. I need a higher sample size. I really hope he comes back and produces like he was pre-injury, dude's a joy to watch.

I guess that I've always just seen his stats as empty because even games he has huge stats in, the team still manages to lose a lot of the time. I don't rate most of the guys you listed there as top 10 players either. Melo again, doesn't seem to be able to get his team to win. Irving can be a little too inconsistent, and when he's off he doesn't have a huge impact on the game. Davis I love, but need to see a higher sample size. Howard might JUST sneak in, Harden I'd take over Love, but JUST. I have Howard/Harden/Love at around 10th spot on top 10 player lists.

People always underrate Kevin Love. I have him as a borderline top 5 player right now. He's one of the best offensive rebounders in the league too. It's not like he's just stealing a ton of defensive rebounds from his teammates. The wolves are doing well this year and he's been lights out. He definitely has a big impact.

Hon mention: Kevin Love

I don't know about that...just off the top of my head, since I've been watching in 1995, these players have been better in their peaks:

MJ
Malone
Shaq
Duncan
T-mac
KG
Kobe
Lebron
Wade
Chris Paul

And possibly David Robinson, Penny Hardaway, and Grant Hill.

He said 20 or so. I don't really know where I'd peg his peak exactly, but it's even debatable with some in your "for sure" list. And it's not like he's at the age when most all-time greats peak anyway. If Durant's best season or two is still to come, he'll definitely be ahead of some of those guys.

Any team starting the worst player in the league (Perkins) is not stacked.

Durant is under-rated for some reason.

He's underrated because he just so happens to be playing against one of the possibly top 5 players (by time Lebron ' career is over) to ever play the game.

Westbrook fans are getting pretty annoying with their insistence on how good he is.

He's having a pretty terrible year and was never an efficient scorer despite his high FGA's.

He's a Top 10 talent for sure, but he's been nowhere near the Top 10 this season.

Players having hands down, better seasons than Westbrook:

Lebron
Durant
CP3
George
Davis
Love
Curry
Harden
Tony Parker
John Wall
Griffin
Dwight Howard
Lamarcus Aldridge
Dwyane Wade
Bledsoe
Melo (yes, Melo)
Monta
Afflalo
Conley

Again, there's no doubt Westbrook is better than many of the names mentioned but he's having a horrible season so far.

You realize there's a game BEYOND field goal percentage, right?

Stats don't come close to indicating the kind of impact Westbrook has on his team.

Yes, I know this.

Westbrook's impact is partly due to OKC not having anyone of similar quality to replace him while he was out. If you inserted any of the PG's I mentioned, OKC would do similarly well, if not better.

Westbrook is having a very low FG%/TS% season so far while putting up a ton of ****ing shots. Roughly 19 shots to get 21 points which includes 7 FGA/gm. That's roughly 22 possessions to score 21 points.

Then, you take his Assists. 5.5 Assists to 3.6 Turnovers. That's a horrible Assist to TO ratio for a PG.

Conley is having a great season. Every game I've watched I've been so impressed with him. He plays at a much more controlled pace and is a better playmaker than Westbrook. He also takes care of the ball very well which is nothing new, he always has.

I'd like to hear an explanation as to why CP3 is better than Paul George or Davis.

CP3 is putting up 19/5/12 on 58% TS to go along w/ 2 spg. He does all of this with only 2.8 TO/gm and playing only 35mpg.

He's one of the best defenders at his position and a true floor general.

Davis has a tremendous impact on the floor defensively, but he's not going to take over offensively. Paul George can do both, but I would much rather put my money on CP3 taking over a game than George.

2. Paul George
3. Kevin Durant
4. Chris Paul
5. Lamarcus AldridgePG over Durant based on what? Defense? Man, when is KD's defensive impact going to stop being underrated. I'm not saying he's better than PG on that end or some kind of lockdown guy or even has great defensive footwork, but his overall individual impact on the defensive end with his mobility and wingspan alone is pretty up there.
