The Trail Blazers are the only team in the Western Conference that has a legitimate shot at beating Miami or Indiana in a 7 game series imo.

They have a legitimate shot at beating the Heat/Pacers (they've done it before), but let's not act like OKC, SAS, LAC, and GSW aren't in their way still

I'm gonna go ahead and predict a Pacers vs. Trail Blazers matchup for the 2014 NBA Finals. Don't know who'll win, but I'd say that the series would probably go 7 games.

I feel like Detroit's gonna be big in the playoffs :confusedshrug: Drummond and Monroe would give hell to Miami and also be tough for Indiana

The West is wide open because the two best teams in the league: Pacers and Heat, are in the East. West is full of talented teams, and the East is extremely top heavy. I think who ever comes out of the East is winning it all, whether that be Indiana or Miami. I don't think any team in the West will match Indy or Miami (possibly Spurs and Thunder, but East team would be favored).

Agreed, wish the NBA would some of the Western Conference teams to the Eastern Conference and vice versa.

Eh, never mind. No one outside of those two can really do anything to Miami :lol

It actually is pretty funny how even though west > east. the best team in the league is in the East where as the worst is in the West.

I think the Pistons would get swept by the Pacers, but could potentially win two games against the Heat because of their size advantage.

its not rocket science,
one get the talents spread across the teams
another is pooled into 2 teams,

let just see this year ASG as a proof

The talent is in the East, the teams just haven't been able to mesh/perform well due to injuries, etc. Look at last years Lakers and the talent they amassed.

Nets are a stacked team: DWill, KG, Pierce, Lopez, Johnson (Evans, Terry) but just haven't been able to get it done. Plus, DWill has been hurt.

Bulls were another stacked team but due to Rose's injury they will stay in the middle of the pack.

Knicks were another decent team that hasn't meshed well, and are faced with a Tyson Chandler injury.

Still, it's pretty early. Last year was threads about Clippers, this is year are about the Blazers.

A Pacers/Blazers final would be awesome because...

It would mean small market teams can thrive and be successful... proving the little guys are still able to compete.

In fact, big market Superteams, with the exception of Miami, usually don't work...

LAL - last year BRK - this year

If this happens, it would be great for the league and fanbases across the association. These teams and franchises deserve the spotlight.

I'd doubt Pacers fans or Blazers fans would leave the arena at the end of a close finals game.

Both would be fantastic series, but I still think the Spurs and OKC have a better shot at getting to the Finals.

Why do you think we switched it to the Moda Center? :D

He has probably loved it ever since he acquired his first career triple double in the Rose Garden.

Given that the Blazers are more than likely going to advance to the 2nd round, they're going to play either the Mavs or Spurs (probably the Spurs, no disrespect to Dallas.) I'd actually give a good chance to beat the Spurs when you consider that the Blazers defend the three extremely good.

Like everyone is saying, the West truly is WIDE open. I could see OKC, SAS, LAC and maybe even POR or GSW winning the conference. All those teams have shooters who can take over a game and getting robotically hot.
