View Full Version : How could it be THIS bad???

I was stoked when the kid was picked number 1, even changed my avatar.

Sure he was big, but he was also long, and had serious ups and played the game with a love we rarely see.

I grew up with Charles Barkley being my favorite player, Philly Charles, his greatest shine, Phoenix Charles gets the props, and Houston Charles gets the hate, but Philly Charles, the one who went to war agaisnt GOAT with only Armon Gilliam and GMan by his side, he was the real Chuck.

I saw a lot of Chuck in AB, same love, same game same full court presence. A four who could excel at 3, a guy who just flat out balled. Add in the fact he has the same passport and it seemed great, THIS was my guy, but I had no idea THIS was coming.

Is Cleveland really that much of a drain? Is the situation that bad? Is having Verajao, Thompson and all the other bigs there making it impossible to get extended minutes and feel. Does the ball really move that little in Mike Brown's 'offense'? Are the guards really that bad a ball hogs? What gives?

Can it get better, it can't possibly be this bad, could he still come out and kick ass in the rookie-sophomore game? I hope he gets invited.

So what does Cleveland do? Keep him, and trade Verajao and Waiters? Start him at the 3?

Its a f*cking mess and it makes me sad, not because my guy isn't doing it, but because a stone baller is having his love of the game crushed.

They need to trade him without making it look like they are trying to trade him. If they make it too obvious, he will have no value. At least now he has the "Well he went #1, there must be something to him." Even then, his contract will make things tough. I still can't believe he went #1.

Looking at this rookie class as a whole makes it obvious why Portland quickly said no to a LMA for the #1 pick trade.

I don't know.. dude is already looking like a complete bum, really don't think any teams would give up much at all.

That's why you take the safe picks, AB was really a wtf pick.

The Nets will give you Jason Terry for him and that's it. Even we're not that desperate.

he hasnt earned any playing time, with his performance on the floor.

he has no one to blame but himself.

he is talented though, he'll figure it out, but he probably wont ever justify being taken first overall.

op needs to calm down, and take the red and white tinted glasses off.

He is just a horrific basketball player...thats the truth

sure, players improve... but i dont really think in the nba history there has been a player that averaged 2 points on .200 shooting in his rookie season and drastically improved to have a great career...

I think the problem is that he is on a team that was expected to start winning. They need a scapegoat, because it sure as hell ain't gonna be Kyrie. He is an easy scapegoat. If he was on a truly shitty team that was expected to go nowhere, they could throw him out there and there would be so many growing pains but it would NOT be under a microscope...as much, when you're #1 pick you're always being evaluated. But he would learn, he would get better.

They can't trade him, but I don't think it's gonna be cool seeing the Cavs in the lottery again.

I don't agree

He's missing point blank dunks from beneath the rim and he's 6'8. He's missing point blank layups. His jumper is bad. His everything is bad. Even his IQ is questionable, if you see some of the stupid shots he takes. Worst #1 pick in recent memory.

He does look terrible right now. But you can't tell me he will never improve from this.

oladipo would be a stupid pick when they have Irving, and Waiters played pretty well last year

McLemore doesnt look like anything special yet, and Porter havent even played

Oladipo can play SG, and you could move Waiters to the sixth man role and have him lead the second unit. Not only that but Waiters has locker room issues. Porter would've filled the gap at SF and so far Mclemore has played better than AB.

all true, but neither of those guys were "safer" picks

You always go for the best player regardless of position. Otherwise you end up Sam Bowie instead of MJ. Yes, it's a drastic example but always, always go for the best player available.

As for Bennettt, I still believe in him. Still see star potential.
His problem is, he is out of shape, had a surgery during the summer and Mike Brown is the worst coach in the NBA, maybe ever.

Bennett is too skilled and too athletic not to pan out. Hopefully he gets traded at some point.

Feel sorry for Cavs fans...unless Lebron comes back...Irving will probably leave and even if he doesn't...the front office will make terrible decisions as usual.

I thought it was obvious he'd be a bust like Derrick Williams and Thomas Robinson. They guy is too small and doesn't have the skill to compensate for the gap. This is the NBA. New ball game. Lebron and Durant had a bit of a learning curve so it was obvious this kid was not going to do better than them. He's doing substantially worse because he doesn't have the skill set. Cleveland doesn't know what they are doing and their scouts are terrible.
