How are you supposed to defend that? His knee creates the space he needs to get off the shot + he's 7 feet.

you cant, but that's also one of the hardest shot to pull of in basketball history.
Sorta like kareem's skyhook, its really hard to get the ball in the hoop. The only person that can defend these moves are the players themselves.

There is no f*cking way to stop Dirk's shot. I almost think contesting it makes it easier for Dirk. He puts a better arch on the ball. Aldridge might wanna go straight up into the air or something. Of to youtube to see if it's ever been blocked.

It's unreal. Without much athleticism left, defenders are playing him as tight as possible and I thought his efficiency might drop off a bit without the ability to drive constantly. But dude just doesn't give a f*ck and hits those shots anyway. Looking at his offensive numbers, only the amount of free throws has declined. Everything else is still the same, turning 36 next summer.

The interesting question is going to be how long can he do this. Iv said it for a long time but his offense is based on size shooting touch and intelligence. None of those are going away. He won't obviously but if he doesn't get hurt I honestly think he could be a useful nba player till he's 50. Seriously at what point could he not be Matt bonner or Steve Novak

It's the way Dirk uses his body to kind of wall off the defender. I don't see how that would come naturally. Either incredible luck or Dirk designed his shot that way.

And btw its definitely been blocked just usually not from the front. Iv watched damn near every game he's ever played and kg and josh smith have blocked it. Tmac also blocked a fade from him in the 53/48 game a long time ago. Finally several people have gotten it from behind, the least likely of which being I remember Eric piatkowski blocking it when he played for the clippers.

He designed it that way to deal with the illegal/dirty defense the heat played on him in the 2006 finals. Haslem and posey did the Bruce Bowen step under a jump shooter move on nearly every jumper he took. The one legged fade stops that because of you watch the way his right leg is, if you try that against the one legged fade, you get kneed square in the nuts.
