On NBA.com video 'Analysis of Kobe's return'

They mentioned and talked about specifically how 'Kobe could not get by anyone and had no explosiveness and lack of elevation'

This is very concerning because if Kobe is not able to 'blow by' anyone. His opponents are going to start playing up to his face like they do with specialist shooters because they know they can't explode by. Impact of this on his game? Well people won't go for his jab steps anymore because they are not scared of him driving so they can guard him close enough to eliminate the effectiveness of his Jumpers and pass.

Scariest thing? Now everyone knows how to play Kobe and teams whom are fighting for a playoff spot (just about everyone now) will not go easy on him as we have all seen today.

What will teams start doing now? Shut down nose to nose defence with single coverage and offensively make kobe run hard. I mean whoever Kobe is guarding, start running around screens with pick and pop shots and camping at the 3 ala Ray Allen, JJ Reddick style. It is mean I know but NBA is (No Boys Allowed).

Best of luck Kobe, I have no expectations.

oh the horror

Scariest thing is that an "nba crew" had the analysis of expecting Kobe to blow by anyone his fu*king first game back after this type of injury.

What game analysis was that??

It has Smitty, Brad and another dude (presenter). The thing is no one had any idea what Kobe is going to be like athletically. Some of his team mates were saying things like he is just as good if not better than before..So point is no one had a clue what he will be like. Was he going to explode (athletically) like D rose did when he first returned in the pre season or was it a lot more serious then what Kobe fans were leading us to believe. I think we got a glimpse tonight.

Just ESPN looking to say something that is more flash than substance.

Seriously, Kobe will be fine. A bit of rust, he looked ok out there.

Needs to be ready for Xmas day...that's why he's back this early, shake off rust (hopefully) within these 2 weeks before the matchup against the Heat

This. Like, what the fcuk were they expecting? It's his first fcuking game after a VERY serious injury. IMO, he played about as well as one can expect.

Not very bright thing to say, it takes time to recover post-injury and to get into NBA shape. Kobe may be many things, but he isnt GODbe :D

You can be medically ready to play. That doesn't mean it doesn't take a good minute to get your timing, foot speed and such back dude.

You don't just walk into a game after an injury and extended time off and explode past players that have been playing all season and training without hindrance of an injury holding them back.

What game analysis was that??Because if you're going to return you should be physically ready. Rust is understandable but if he's not an exceptional athlete then he's a completely different and much worse player. As skilled as he is athleticism is an integral part of his game. All that clever footwork is for nothing if he doesn't have the explosion to create space once he sets himself up to either go past or rise above the defender. If he can't get that explosion back I don't even have a guess as to who he can play like. He's too smart a player to be completely discounted but until he can explode like he used to they can't buy into him as being "the Mamba."
