I've had htc one since June. Flip phone to blackberry to android. I'm not big on aps at all. Just got iPhone today. First iPhone. Seems pretty simple and solid, what I like more.

Thoughts phone pros? I'm just a ***** that likes fast smooth shit.

Feedback , advice pros cons?

Why'd you get rid of your HTC One? That thing is a work of art.

My favorite thing about the iPhone is the form factor. It's pretty much the perfect size.
Gave it to my girl. She broke hers Wanted to try iPhone. Like macs. Have sprint. Last upgrade stuck with android. Like big screens. Got 4 lines. Always have upgrades. Trying it out. Think I'll try note 3 also. That thing is nasty.

I'm still rocking a 3 year old HTC MyTouch. Not because I can't afford an upgrade, but because I like the size, and the new (supersized) Android phone features don't impress me.

For my next phone I'm actually leaning towards Nokia Windows phone. I take a lot of photos in my profession, and use a separate camera, but the new Nokia phone cameras are impressive. I also use Windows on both my PC at tablets.

That's why I'm sticking with my Galaxy S2 for now. I just don't like the big 5-inch screens on phones. I don't need that for something I want to carry around in my pocket. I find so many of these new features on phones to be total overkill. The HTC One does look slick though and if I were to upgrade, I think that would be my choice.

i like iphone's look and easy functionality but I have known multiple people including myself who have had their iphones break down. Common culprits are broken power button and sticky home button.

You gave up the best phone on the market.

I'm a software developer, working on bluetooth for automotive. I've used damn near every phone out there.

Nothing compares to HTC One.

in terms of capability and potential probably not, but most regular people don't give a sh*t about stuff like that.

My main priorities are battery life and all-around reliability. I don't wanna tinker around with the OS or stream HD movies to a TV, i just want a phone that's gonna work day in and day out and integrate easily with my office computer without any fuss.

I'm probably gonna get the 5s or 5c. My android device was all right for a while but it got progressively sh*ttier and sh*ttier as time went on. My iphone works as good as the day I got it.

I've been using the Samsung Galaxy Mega for about 2 months now. I love it because of the size. I was gonna hold out for the N3, but I couldn't pass up all the screen size lol. I try to use my gfs Iphone, but it's just too damn small. Perfect for woman hands though.

If you're involved in the ecosystem, that's one thing...but I had a Windows Phone for the past year, and while it was fun at first, it quickly got old. After having 5 Androids, I bought the HTC 8x the week it came out. The app selection is awful, YouTube barely works, there aren't any customization options, and HTC basically stopped supporting it a couple of months in. My new job offered me a free line with Verizon, so I jumped on it and took the S4. I'll never cheat on Android again.

I don't even look at specs and stuff.

All i know is the iphone is the most common phone and that helps in many ways....

When i go to a friends or cousins house they have an iphone so i can use their charger.

Or when i shop for accessories, there is more choices with the iphone.

Or when I'm at a hotel, they'll have an iphone dock sound system. Or when i'm in a friends car, they'll have an iphone dock for their car stereo.

Or if i run into a problem, I can search google for "what to do when x happens to your iphone" and there are more results to that question than for any other phone.

Or when I am hanging out with a friend, we'll randomly start talking about our phones and he'll give me tips about saving battery life and saving data plan bites or whatever...and then he'll recommend me some apps and games too.

And every single thing i just wrote has indeed happened over the past two years. And some of them happen quite often.

There's a few threads out there in which I've recommended various apps for the ipHone or iOS in general.

Simply put... the iOS ecosystem is miles ahead bar none.

Nothing comes close to the sheer volume and 'quality' of the iOS ecosystem. As some already mentioned, the world caters to iOS devices.

If you have any questions about apps let me know. Apple is starting to do a better job at marketing lesser known apps, they're starting to include videos and have spotlights as well. One thing I loved about the Android marketplace was their FREE trials, but Apple is offering FREE versions of their apps as well.

Like I mentioned, let me know if there's something in specific that you're looking for. If not, there's tons of sites that offer app recommendations, reviews, tutorials, insights, etc.etc.

i was actually still content with my ip4 as recent as last week.

but then for some stupid reason (like curiosity), i gave in and upgraded the IOS.

now the phone is slow as shit. and i don't know how to reverse it.

i'm not even using new advanced programs. but everything is slow. even when i type to send a message, it takes a split noticeable second to respond. everything takes like 2-3X longer to load.

fking slow ass POS. i think they do that just to force your ass to upgrade to a new phone even though it wasn't necesary.

You can't. Few of my buddies did that upgrade too on their iPhones and it is unbearable. They are so pissed that Apple didn't warned them or at least exclude the IOS7 upgrade on iphone4.

they should let users choose which IOS to use.

i remember the iphone4 was actually fast when it was still on IOS 5... well, at least fast enough for me... even IOS 6 was ok. no real complaints.

but after getting IOS 7, this motherfukka turned the phone into a slow ass POS overnight.

the ip4 is obviously not built for this operating system. but it doesn't need it. i'm still running the same weak programs, but they foooooorever to load. and if you want to use google maps, go take a nap because that might only finish loading when you wake up.

only simple shit. the phone was perfectly good enough for me until IOS 7.

all my simple needs were fulfilled with the ip4 with older operating systems. but now the whole phone is slow. dude, even a dumb task as simple as typing has response lags to show up on the screen. IOS7 is obviously too heavy for the phone.

I have a Galaxy S4 and absolutely love my phone. Screen is the perfect size and everything runs smoothly. The iPhone is alright, but way to small. I can't even type on it. If they make a 5" screen for the iPhone! I might just switch! but right now the S4 is amazing in every way.

Still loving my Note 2, and still like it better than my company iPhone 5. It's just so much... more. I keep hearing the HTC One is pretty sweet but I haven't had a chance to take it for a spin.

I've now converted three iPhone lifers to Android. My bro-in-law got a Note 3 and it looks sweet! I like the minor S-Pen changes a lot. My wife really wanted an iPhone but "settled" for the GS4 and she loves it. And now whenever she tries doing something on her dad's iPhone she finds super frustrating.

I saw my contractor using the new Moto X. Looks sweet. He's only had it for a few weeks, so I'll ask him if he still likes in 6 months. I've been burned my Motorola too often to jump back in.

Yeah and it seems to get better with every update. One thing that's REALLY annoying with Samsung is that they keep trying to push their own S search or S find whatever the **** its called over the clearly better Google Now. I don't think there's an option to reprogram the button shortcuts on the newer Samsung phones so you can't have a Google Now shortcut on the Note 3. How ****ing Apple like. This, and their chagrin for pushing their consumers towards Kies instead of drag and drop, is making me want to stay the hell away from Samsung once my Note 2 (which thankfully has none of these limitations) finally craps out.

Been a few days. Overall like it better. Smooth as silk. Does everything what I want more efficiently. Still getting used to also.

Does need a bigger screen. Mac has always had the best monitors and killed the game with their big flat screens way back in the g3, g4 days. They should really kill competition on the 6 with bigger and crispest screen in the game. Overall quality is superior IMO. Simple and fONky.

Bless Mathews
12-12-2013, 07:21 PM
A bigger screen is great for videos, games, etc. My phone has a full inch on the iPhone 5 but that leads to stuff like if your interacting with stuff at the top of the screen having to shift the phone a bit in your hand to get down to the button at the physical button down at the very bottom of the phone. So it's a definite compromise.
A ha. That was my biggest gripe with htc one. They moved the back button all the way to lower left. Made a thread bout. So annoying to reach all the way to lower left.

One of best if not the best thing about iPhone is how you can just swipe the screen back and forth. It's the fOnkiest part of the phone. Don't gotta worry about back buttons on top or bottom. Quite honestly don't know I could use a phone without out it now. Makes everything so much faster and more efficient.

HTC One is simply brilliant

Amazing screen, great touch, best sound through headphones I have ever listened to on a phone, very fast , good front speakers and when you receive a call the voice is very clear and the design is great.

I had one issue with it which I fixed. I noticed when connected to WIFI that I dont receive any notifications from whatsapp or Facebook until I turn the screen on. It frustrated me a lot. Then I found an option which said " WIFI battery optimization". This meant that, every time I turned off the screen of the phone, the WIFI would go into sleep mode. I turned it off and now the problem is fixed.

So far, I would give this phone a straight 10. Everything is great. Some complained about the battery , but it seems that it is a much better battery than on my girlfriends Iphone 5. Also , a friend of mine bought the 5s now because the battery of his Iphone 5 wouldn't hold anymore after 1 year.

Im in Canada trying to get a phone and I may just end up getting an Android phone  simply because I don't have to pay for the phone itself (Im still unemployed, I just got here).

At this point any phone will do, I just need something to do the basic phone tasks. But it's hard going back to a regular phone once you've used a smart phone, I always liked the HTC One and luckily some carriers offer it for either FREE or for a very affordable low price. I may decide to just go ahead and get the HTC One, but I still have the itch to get an iPhone, but before I do make a final decision I have some questions.

My wife (here in Canada) and my family back home in L.A. all have iPhones, Ive been hooked on the iOS and Apple environment (apps, devices, compatibility, services, etc.etc.)some things I can sacrifice and do without for the moment others I can't. Here are the main things I will need from an Android phone:

iMessage... I understand that I can get 'What's app' as a replacement, but my family nor my wife has them. It also doesn't integrate like iMessage does.

Facetime... Yes I know there's Skype and Tango but the quality doesn't compare. They're also not as secure nor do they integrate like FaceTime does.

FaceTime Audio... again, does Android have a similar application? Im sure it has something of the sort, but at what quality? Again... INTEGRATION!!! FaceTime Audio is integrated flawlessly with Apple services and apps.

Why are these must?

They won't count towards my voice or texting plans. I only have to worry about data. They're all integrated within Apple's ecosystem so everything is seamless and easy to use. I also don't want to nag my family into installing apps that won't offer the same quality or experience.

Anyway, please feel free to recommend some substitutes that work on all platforms that I may not know about. Is there a way for Apple/iOS users to migrate over to Android without missing a beat?

To be clear, I will be switching to an iPhone once I get settled here in Canada (have been here for 2.5 weeks).

Muchas Gracias

Some more advice needed.

Since I may go with an Android phone, what sort of weather, music creation, image editing apps is there available?

I live in Canada so good reliable and beautiful weather apps is a must.

I will be in using the bus, which means plenty of time to try to make a beat, is there any apps for this? I've seen people in music boards complain about this.

Since I live in Canada now, it's a perfect place to take pics. Everything is new to me, and every day I look outside i wish I had a camera to send pics to my family back home. I get the feeling that I'll be itching to take many more pics to share with my family back home. I know there's some cross platform apps, but I know that there's many iOS only apps that I used to use all the time. What are the best image editing apps out there?

Thanks.

prices are basically fixed in canada so there really isn't much differnce between the carriers.

the best option would probably be koodo because they have the same prices as fido while having more coverage. Also when you drop out of lte with kood you go down to hspa42+ instead of hspa 21+ on fido
