WGA (Writer's Guild Association) made a list a couple months ago ranking their top shows all time based on how well it was written. Haven't seen some of the shows on the list but the top 15 is:

Reminds me. I have a bunch of free time over the next couple weeks and been meaning half-ass marathon Friday Night Lights. Still haven't watched it yet.

Modern Family seems surprisingly high, no? 34.

Where the love for Gilmore Girls? For most of the series, honestly better written than most of the US version of The Office.

Firefly, possibly.

Not sure about the order, but the list isn't terrible. Granted, I don't even recognize like a quarter of the names in there, much less seen the majority of it. Few of those are on my to watch list.
