Anyways...this is probably one of the greatest hip hop albums ever. Till today when I put it on, people trip out and always ask me who they are. Sadly, there past success is overshadowed by their late night gig.

I still get goose bumps listening to SECTION and WHAT THEY DO.

I recommend listening to the entire album on your sofa, not car, not on your mobile device, but sit your ass down with a beverage of choice. Preferably cognac on the rocks.

Thank me tomorrow for making plans for you tonight.

You're late as hell. If you were a period, some poor guy is stressed out thinking of ways to ask for an abortion without coming off as a total prick.

I don't think its "sad" that so many people know them for their Late Night role. They're an amazing band and they deserve that success/exposure. I mean think about it, in a couple years the f*ckin ROOTS are gonna be the house band on the legendary Tonight Show, the most famous late night show in history. Do you realize how huge that is?

People always complain when nobody knows about the artists they like, but then when those same artists make it mainstream and people start recognizing/appreciating them, those old fans get mad that people know them for "the wrong stuff". Success is success and the Roots deserve it all completely. It's not like they're "Kanye" mainstream where theyre making asses out of themselves and being seen in a negative light. People love them and respect them. Plus if you watch Fallon, they have a blast doing all that goofy stuff with him even if its not "street" enough for their old fans

And dude is still spitting fire.

His verse on Bird's Eyes View was the best verse of this year until Control hit the airwaves

We know the Roots for their albums and live concerts. Not the Tonight Show. You're like the opposite of L-Kizzle. He's like the ratchet ghetto black dude and you're Uncle Tom. "Plus if you watch Ellen show..." :confusedshrug:

I know hip hop fans obviously know them for their classic stuff, I do too. But my point was just it's not a bad thing if their gig on Late Night is earning them a whole new fanbase and gettin them more exposure. Talent like them deserves to be seen and even though they're not performing their classic songs or anything, their talent is finally gettin the recognition it deserves.

Just sayin I'm happy the world's startin to see what they've been missing. Nothin Uncle Tom about that.

Great album. Still have it in rotation. I saw Roots live with Rage Against the Machine about a decade ago.

It was actually supposed to be WuTang Clan and Rage Against the Machine at the Warfield in S.F... but Wu pulled out at the last moment. This was prime Wu, so I was pretty bummed, but Roots were good too.

Clones! Best freestyle beat of all time! I remember a house party back in the day this was on repeat for almost a hour and a group of us just freestyled to this non stop... Those were days.

favourite track: Section (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ab-GPHZdwYo)

Y'all know the dynasty, the Roots repertoire
The lieutenant from the reservoir, serve the spar

The injurar, preditar of a competitar
I send MCs where the paramedics are

At first, I'm like "nah", I'm nonchalant from afar
Then strike to cut the fake rap star jugular

With irregular balance of the cat burgla-rar
