They're 20-3 and very much on "pace" to break it. :confusedshrug:

Actually, even at 20-3 they STILL aren't on pace to tie much less break. So NO. NOT CLOSE.

Agreed. The 95-96 Bulls went 41-3.

The Bulls were 41-3 at one point. If Indiana can put together a really long winning streak they'll have a slight chance.

they are on pace for 60-9.... that means they are NOT on pace to break it, unless they win 13 more games after they reach 60-9. 5th grade mathz, yo :facepalm

Terrible logic. If you make it to the NBA, you're one of the best basketball players in the world. On any given night, any team can win due to injuries, hot streaks, bad coaching decisions, good/bad matchups, etc.

It's impressive regardless. You can't take away the effort the Pacers are giving just because they're playing better and smarter than most teams.

Yeah but don't you see his point? The East is literally on pace to be the worst conference ever. Their record vs the west is like 20% wins, 80% losses. If Pacers were in the West they'd be like the 3rd or 4th seed IMO. Behind OKC, SA, and potentially Portland.

In 1997 there were even more bottom level teams in the league with even worse records than some of the struggling teams right now. Therefore, by your own logic, we can't take the '97 Bulls record seriously because that season was a joke in terms of parity.

Zero chance. The Bulls were 41-3 through 44 games. Even if the Pacers somehow managed 39-5 or 38-6, you really think they're going 34-4 or 35-3 the rest of the way? They have games against Miami and talented West teams, plus you gotta figure a starter will get hurt and miss a game or two. Somewhere along the line, they're going to hit a 3 game losing streak.

if i was the pacers i wouldn't want to try. make sure you stay healthy, and not worn out. winning a championship is the most important thing.

Ummm there's literally double the number of under .500 teams in the East today as there were in 97.

There's no trophy for regular season records. The Heat wore themselves out mentally and physically during their streak last year and it nearly cost them a title IMO. If the Pacers have the 1 seed all but locked up they'd be wise to take their foot off the gas.

They shouldn't go for it. Just guarantee the best seed and save the gas for the playoffs.

They probably don't have the firepower to achieve this, although they fared quite well in most of the last tough series of games and their schedule in the next 15 games isn't that hard, so they may get to some impressive record anyway.
In order to achieve 70 or 72 wins, you have to have practically no slumps as a team during the whole regular season. You see many teams making some impressive winning streak, then they'd lose one game and they'd never be the same again, playing 50% ball for 10 games and...there go the chances. The Bulls would make a streak, lose one game, then go on making a new streak. It doesn't have to be something enormous, but out of every 7-8 games, you're not allowed to lose more than once (or twice in case of a tough schedule).
Only case of having some small slump and still go for 70+ is to go for the 1972 Lakers' winning streak or achieve incredible hotness, like the 2000 Lakers that went 30-1 at one point after a small mid-season slump.

Yeah, save the gas for the playoffs.
By january, they should have a comfortable lead over Heat and then, they should rest for the playoffs. :oldlol: :oldlol:

People just dont understand how great that team was. The determination, IQ, as well as talent. A comparable team would be

Lebron James/Michael Jordan
Paul George/Scottie Pippen
Roy Hibbert/ Luc Longley
Thabo Sefalosha/Ron Harper
Kevin Love/Bizarro Dennis Rodman
Kyle Korver/Steve Kerr
Derrick Favors/Brian Williams (97 Bulls, my fav)
Gordon Hayward/Toni Kukoc

There's a reason why that team was able to win at that level for three year. Supremem talent

32-20 since .. this team is coming undone .. don't get it .. it's gonna kill their psyche if they lose that #1 seed right at the end after working so hard all season to have it and maintain it .. ouch
