Which is more impressive, in your opinion?

The 81 point game, scoring that many points in the modern era is such a hard thing to do, its a true tribute to one of the best of all time, noone in the modern era has come close.

This.
Both are amazing and probably never will happen again.

Well yea, but that was in 94, im talking about 2000 till now, you don't see players going off like that anymore.

81 points. I'd actually give the 13 points this edge had the 81 points came in a losing effort, but seeing how they spurred a come-from-behind win for the Lakers, who were down big in that game, I'd vote 81.
13 points in 33 seconds though. Amazing feat.

Kobe's 62 - Mavs 61 through three quarters was almost as impressive as the 81. And both were better than 13 in 35 (which was amazing in and of itself).

There is no feat with 13 points in 33 seconds.
It was more luck than anything. You know how much a team would have to F up to allow this?
You can insert any great SG in place of Tmac with the same luck and scenario, they would probably score 13 in 33 seconds but nobody can say the same about 81 points.
It can't be that impressive when scrubs can do it, as shown from 9 in 9 seconds and that college game.

Let's make it a discussion.
I'm playing devil's advovate here, as I also believe 81 is better.
Spurs > Raptors
one man come back > being force fed the ball
If T-Mac felt like it, given the pace he was on, he would have scored well over 1000 points
don't take that last one serious

Doesn't that make more impressive that the odds of 13 in 33 secs are little to none while kobe had an entire 48 minutes to get 81 plus he was the only good player for the lakers at the time:confusedshrug: 81 points was impressive though

I can see where you are coming from but 9 times out of 10 that spurs team doesn't screw up that bad to allow T-Mac to do it, it was a pretty lucky situation.

I'd rank Kobe's 61 in 3 quarters above his 81, 81 was against a bad team, and with 61 he outscored Mavs by himself.

I bet you Iverson or T-Mac could have replicated the 81 if given similar circumstances. :confusedshrug:
81.. You now how hard it is to lull a defense into a false sense of security for 48 minutes

They were given the same circumstance for their entire career and can't do it.
Both great scorers for their bad teams and I'm sure both of them had been down by double digit points at halftime and had the chance to do it, they just can't.
They both played Toronto that year too.

It would probably be possible maybe, but it didn't happen, i just think the 81 is more impressive, credit where credit is due tho, T-macs performance in that game was clutch as fvck

Thats my point, in this era, its such a hard thing to do, given other players on the team etc, the fact that Kobe managed to do it in 2006 should say something (and don't tell me hes a ball hog)

Kobe's 81 was over the craptors without any inside presence at the time.
T-Mac's was against the Spurs, who has been an elite team for nearly a decade now.
Then again not a lot of players have the ability to take that many shots. It's a tie.

Did you even watch 13 in 35? He didn't go inside at all. It was a 3 pointer, 4 point play, 3 pointer, 3 pointer.

Does that belittle his accomplishment or are you saying the perimeter defense of SAS was terrible?

Definitely 81. I love Mac, but that 13 was what, a couple of threes?
It's not that hard to get hot and hit 4,5 shots in a row. Try doing that over a period of 4 quarters and you might get to 81.

Kobe's 81 and it really is not close. When you look back in history, what will you remember? Kobe's 81 or TMacs 13 in 33 seconds? Kobe's 81 was legendary and will be enshrined as one of the best offensive games in history.
I was fortunate enough to watch both of them live. TMacs 13 was ridiculous and insanely exciting. But Kobe's 81 is just on another level. I remember in the 4th, they would post a point ticker in the screen of Kobe's points. I remember seeing that ticker when it crossed 70 and that in itself was just mind boggling. Plus, this was no blow out game. Lakers were losing by double digits and Kobe brought them back and won it for them.

That's awesome.
Saw a high school team come back from 8 down with about 30 seconds to go. Obviously not as important or exciting because it was two small schools in Arkansas playing a random game in January, but still pretty exciting to see. My dad, who used to be a high school coach, told me he had a team come back and win a game in their district tournament one year after being down 9 with 45 seconds left in the game. Had a made 3-steal on the inbounds-made 3 sequence and the other team missed the front-end of a couple of one-and-ones.
I think something like that is a little more likely on the high school and college level because of one-and-one FTs. Miss the first one in the NBA, and you get a chance to still put at least one point on the board, but miss the front-end of a one-and-one in high school or college, and that's it; it's basically the same thing as a turnover in my opinion.

45 in win or go home game is much better than both.
Again, 81 is ofcourse better, Both will be remembered, But i guess if Tmac was allowed the same voulme shooting Kobe had in this season/game, he would have put similar or even better numbers.

the problem with 81 pts is that 10 years from now ppl will remember numer six, tonymontana and ispin69 stating it was regular season against the raptors, now seriosly; 81 by a glorious, legendary margin

And I think you're right about the college and high school stuff. I also think the lack of time-outs on those levels (and the inability to advance the ball as effectively via time-out) contributes as well.
