I'll drink either one if I have no choice but IMO Powerade > Gatorade. I think Gatorade flavors tend to be too tart and in my experience neither has any advantage over the other in terms of hydration. They're both just sugary water with a touch of sodium.
So which do you guys prefer?

I like the Fierce Grape Gatorade, but I agree with OP, Gatorade seems too tart to me now, I like Powerade a little bit better, it's a bit cheaper too.
I always have a stash of coconuts.
So whenever I do sports I just milk that and take it with me.
****ing hate these disgusting artificial sports drinks.

I mean who the **** cares what color it has, I just want the nourishment from it.
If a company sacrifices the products integrity for marketing purposes then I will have no part of it.
You do not deserve to be in my body, Gatorade and Powerade. Shame on you both.

Back in my military days we hydrated with very salty tasting gatorade..along with lots of water. The sodium helps to keep your electrolytes balanced.
It still doesn't make any sense.
Not everybody takes stuff like that seriously. It's not going to kill them, I'm just saying they could use better liquids. It's not ideal.
Hell, I'll crush some potassium, salts, etc. tablets and mix it with filtered tap water before using Gatorade or Powerade.

Pre-1992 Gatorade > all
Now it's just sugar filled koolaid for sports.

You'd think they'd want what's best for their players.
Maybe they just use the containers and put their own mixtures in it.
A lot of sugar, water and a bit of salt. Gatorade is fine in the middle of a heavy exercise.
Sure, any other situation it's terrible for you, but for the intended application it's fine.

Does GNC still carry G Series Pro? The Gatorade used on sidelines for pro sports. The electrolyte complex is enhanced in that.
I haven't been to a GNC in a while.

Coconut water for me. It has naturally occurring potassium, sugar, and nutrients. That or Dymatize Recoup which is a BCAA mixture

Do they sell coconut water or a brand? Or do you just make it yourself?

Purple, yellow & light blue Gatorade is great.
Yellow and purple powerade is not
Gatorade wins it for me.

Anyone remember All-Sport? I was dying of thirst at one point this past summer and that was the only sports drink offered at the general store.
It tasted like 1997.

Powerade is cheaper, you can get a bunch for 50 cent each when on sale. Plus, Powerade is part of the coke rewards so every cap has a code which adds to some cooler gift certificates/rewards. Gatorade is usually over a buck each with no rewards. I like the sweeter taste of Gatorade but...going with Powerade for bang for buck.

coconut water is also a natural laxative so it will make you go to the toilet. Probably get you more dehydrated in the long term.

I can't believe some of you are using price as a decision-making factor. How much of these kinds of drinks do you consume? Are you purchasing mass quantities? The discount you're getting is negligible.
Powerade has high fructose corn syrup in it, so that's why I don't drink it as often as Gatorade.

That statement is false. It is in fact a remedy for diarrhea and dehydration

Actually it is a laxative. But you have to drink an awful lot of it for it to do that. I I would say 8-16 ounces a day is very safe to drink. I drink 8oz in the morning with my breakfast.
I've been drinking VitaCoCo, says it's 100% pure coconut water, no sugar added. Seems fine.
