old timers always had that shooting stroke. it's only now that guys get in the nba even if they can't make an open shot.

Do you have Lebron bricking shots in the finals while Spurs gave him 2 feet of space as you type that post?
this is unhealthy

Remarkable.
It's great to see old timers still got it. Jerry and Jordan have not lost their skills, only got older and slower :applause:

nice but he needs to get some arc on that shot!
He changes the arc from low medium to high on his last 3 shots - and calls it that they'll go in before they reach the hoop each time - so I'm pretty sure he just puts whatever arc he wants too on the ball :oldlol:

Mad respect for Mr. West. Can't imagine how many hours of practise he put into his game.
I will give it up to the older generation of basketball players, back then if you couldn't shoot, you really couldn't play.

Remember there was no 3pt marker. Guys in those days had to be good to great mid range shooters and inside players. It's an art that is nearly dead today.

Honestly shooting those kind of wrist shots from 3 feet away is super easy, even if you havn't touched a ball in years.
I guarantee his jumpshot would be horrific.

Respect to Mr. Clutch :applause: Its both funny and sad to consider he would be better spot up shooter as 75 than most of NBA players.

You know what they say about shooting that it's the last to go. Looks like he can shoot better than a lot of NBA players right now:lol

13 in a row yeah it's in the paint but so what? dude's stroke was silk in 65, it's still silk when he's 75. One of the most exciting moments in all my days of watching hoops was when Logo ran onto the court in a freaking exhibition game. The entire arena changed. The entire place was on its feet roaring and the game hadn't even started. Did he put on a show? You better believe he did. I still believe Jerry could get 45 anytime he wanted and nobody could tell him different.
Everyone everywhere who loved hoops, loved Jerry West. Regardless of your team, he was everyone's hero. Little towns out in the flat of Iowa, in the mountains of Wyoming, if you knew basketball you talked about Jerry West. Dude built the NBA regardless of what anybody says that's just fact I was there to see it. Him and Chamberlain, they were stars. Jerry West is the very spirit of competition.
Still the fastest man I've ever seen from perimeter to rim completely unstoppable AND lockdown defense whenever he pleased against whoever it was and to this day the Logo is the point guard on my all-time starting 5.

Off-topic (somewhat), but I wish we would have footage of Wilfred Hetzel. Perhaps the greatest pure shooter of all-time...and one that virtually no one knows about...

Another sidenote...
Next time someone says that they don't (or didn't) play defense in the NBA, think about this...
I have read where players like Mullin, or Bird, and many others, have made ridiculous amounts of 3-pt shots in a row during practice or shoot-arounds. I personally witnessed Jerry Lucas (live) make some 20 straight shots from between the circles back in the early 70's during a pre-game warm-up.
And yet, how come these guys barely (if that) shoot 50% in their careers?

1. Non stop transition game.
2. Strategy was take the open shot back then my friend. If it came with 23 seconds left on the clock and it was a 25 footer...... they banged away.
3. Terror of centers kept the ball outside.... lower percentage shot
