What if Ariza & Bynum aren't injured for the 2008 playoffs

What if Stern doesn't take Cp3 off the lakers.

I think we see a 3peat, maybe a 4peat.

Lakers took the 08 Celtics to 6 games and the Lakers were missing 2 starters.

By 2011 Lakers were worn down from 3 finals due to their lack of depth, adding Cp3 in 2011 with an All star Bynum plus more rest and less work for Kobe...

If the GOAT, #23, didn't get depressed about his father's death and take a 2 year baseball sabbatical.

:(

Potential 2 more championships, the first ever team to win 4 straight, 2 more MVPs, ridiculous accumulative career stats for Jordan, and the possibility of 7 or 8 championships over the span of a decade.

They're already the most dominant team of the modern era but seriously ... 2 championships possibly left on the table pisses me off.

Hell, if Krause wasn't cheap, they could've even competed as a legit threat with a few more youthful players in the 1999 lockout season too.

Worthy's passing blunder in game two, and Magic's FT misses near the end of game four of the '84 Finals...or as Bird himself said, "They should have swept us."

And what if Billy Cunningham hadn't missed the entire series; Luke Jackson and Wali Jones had not been injured in game five; and Chamberlain not having to play with an assortment of injuries, and noticeably limping throughout...in the '68 EDF's?

Chamberlain gets ripped for his post-season "decline", but how about these "what-if's"?

In the 61-62 EDF's, Wilt averaged 33.6 ppg on .468 shooting against Russell and the Celtics. In the process, his team, and with his teammates collectively shooting .354 in the entire post-season, lost a game seven to Boston by two points.

Russell, who averaged 22.0 ppg on a .398 FG% against Wilt in that series, went on to average 22.9 ppg on a .543 FG% against the Lakers, in a seven game series win. And in that seventh game, Russell scored 30 points with 40 rebounds.

Now, if Wilt's teammates could have just scored three more points, it would have been Wilt feasting on LA in the Finals that year. Think about this...in his nine regular season H2H's with LA that year, Chamberlain averaged 51.5 ppg on a .500 FG%. Included were three games of 60+. Oh, and Wilt's high game against the Lakers? 78 points and 43 rebounds.

How about Wilt's 64-65 EDF's? Against Russell's Celtics, and in a seven game series in which his team lost the seventh game by one point...Chamberlain put up a 30.1 ppg, 31.4 rpg, .555 FG% series. Oh, and he held Russell to 15.6 ppg, 25.3 rpg, and a .447 FG%.

In the '65 Finals, Russell put up a 17.8 ppg, 25.0 rpg, .702 FG% Finals. What kind of numbers would Chamberlain have shelled LA with had his teammates been able to score two more points in that game seven?

I'll give you Bynum, who wasn't anywhere near as good as Bynum a few years later, but Ariza? First of all, he wasn't a starter:

2007-08 for Lakers: 24 games, 3 starts.

Boy did they miss his 6.5/3.5/1.5 in 18 minutes. Most certainly why they lost in 6.

-Trading Robert Parish & the #3 pick (used for Kevin Mchale) for Joe Barely Cares & Rickey Brown.

-Trading Bernard King for Michael Ray Richardson

-Breaking up Run TMC by trading Mitch Richmond for Billy Owens? Owens actually was pretty decent in his 3 years with GS and gets kind of underrated, but still, he's levels below Mitch Richmond

-Picking Todd Fuller over the likes of Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Peja, J. O'Neal, Big Z.
