The Set up.

The US. Olympic team (we'll say 2008 since that was a better team) Is an NBA team. they have a training camp and no injuries all year. And for consistency sake we'll say that there is a duplicate for each player. So there are 2 lebrons 2 kobe's 2 Carmelo's.... ect. So there can be one on the olympic team and one on their respective teams.

Cleary they would win the Title, but would they be able to go undefeated? Or would some team get hot and catch them off guard a few times during the season?

Let's just say they could have beaten anybody on any given night if they wanted to.

But to go 82-0 means there won't be any injury, they have to maintain that focus and play hard for all 82 games.

This is all assuming they have time to gel as a team prior to the season begins, chemistry is very important.

So you're telling me that Kobe, Lebron, Melo and Wade are coexisting peacefully for an entire NBA season? :lol

There are not enough balls to go around, and the egos man. There was difficulty in Miami fitting Wade and Lebron together. Now just imagine adding Kobe and Melo to that mix. No way.

And then I can't imagine Howard staying happy either. An NBA season isn't the Olympics, where you accept blending your game in with a roster full of superstars to win gold for your country.

So the real question is whether that talent could overcome the massive dysfunction which would inevitably show up.

Even with the egos on check by miracle there would be at least one team catching fire from 3 in the season

GSW, SAS or Portland have some nights where you just can't beat them

Or getting tired with something like a 7 games in 10 days

Existing teams are more used to playing with one another. A good team of comparable talent (same league) will always beat an all star team.

The 2008 Olympic team isn't better than the good teams in the league today, unless you can make the case that they would actually play well together at a high level over 82 games.

And I'm just not seeing that many alphas and scorers coexisting well. How is Kobe going to like Lebron dominating the ball so much? Or Melo chucking?

The Heat would hand them their asses.

In this scenario they have a training camp.

The Heat, Thunder, Pacers, or Spurs could take the Olympic team to 6 or 7 games I bet if their role players were making shots.

The Bobcats wouldn't lose 82 times straight to the Olympic team.

Problem with Olympic team is not enough "lunch pail" guys and specialists. Too many chiefs, not enough indians...er, native americans....Who's doing the dirty work?

They'll win alot of games but not even close to 82.
