For those who have seen a fair amount of him so far, what is his likely outcome as a player? His peak?

He is a good defensive player, i think he has lots of potential there.

Offensively he has fantastic ballcontrol/ballhandling and has good vision/passing, he was always a point-guard and was kindof expected to be that in the NBA aswell, he is best used that way...... with that being said im not sure if they are trying to transition him into that role by playing him SF / not allowing him to handle the ball... right now i feel like they are trying to turn him into a player he is not & never will be imo... like when Sun Yue (a very true 6'9" PG) came to the NBA and Lakers wasted him at SF from the bench, ofcourse he aint gona do anything there... playing another role/position is like starting from scratch redefining your entire game after you played one way your entire life....

He needs to do something about his name. That name is never going to catch on.

That's exactly why it's going to catch on.

His name is the reason why he's so popular. Kinda like Mutombo.

Good work.

I will add he is very coordinated with superb timing and still growing. He can go left and go hard left handed. His hands seem huge and he should get a lot of blocks and steals. Already seems smart about the game and his limitations. Amazingly he isn't overwhelmed at the speed of the NBA. So we don't know where his gifts will take him. If he works hard and refines his skills he will be one of the most interesting players in the game as he has a lot of aspects to his game.

As he grows, I don't think the PG thing is a reality as his length and lift... he seems to be a 7 footer. He caught a SF's jump shot while directly in front of him - didn't really catch it but blocked the shot with his arm and wrist on the ball.

He won't ever score like Durant but he can surpass Durant's all around game and utilize his natural gifts more. He doesn't really have confidence yet as he picks the ball up early a lot. Can level off early if not in the right system tho.

no pun intended

For those that aren't aware, Antetokounmpo is projected to be a 7 footer by the time he is 21 years of age.

Only watched one Bucks game but... he has beastly potential. His best role down the line would probably be as a do-it-all point forward. Even if he doesn't reach his ceiling, you can easily imagine him averaging say, 16, 8 and 4 along with 2 steals and 2 blocks.

At worst, you're expecting that? You're really high on him, for good reason.

Only seen a few games, but his upside and overall game is more Nic Batum than Durant or PG. That's still very good, doe.

Henson looks good. If last year's Sanders ever comes back, he's a legit starting center. This team would be set with a franchise PG. Exum?

Exum/?/Antetokounmpo/Henson/Sanders
Would be the most ridiculously long starting lineup ever.

What's with Sanders anyway?

For a team stuck in shit-mediocrity, the Bucks have drafted pretty well. This kid, Henson, Leuer, Sanders, Jennings, Mbah a Moute, Sessions, Ilyasova, Bogut... Look where those guys were chosen and the Bucks made one of the best picks they could have every time.

Of course they ****ed up with Yi and Joe Alexander. Although not sure who else they would have picked.

DJ Augustin might as well be Joe Alexander. Brook Lopez is great and all, but the Bucks had a young Bogut. Bayless? Thompson? Rush? Randolph? That's the rest of the lottery picks.

If not Yi than who? Brewer is a role player and probably would still be a journeyman like he has become. Wright is role player and injured all the time. Noah is great, but 2nd year Bogut... Hawes? Acie Law? Thad Young? C'mon. There's no game changers there.

His peak? Frighteningly good.

agreed. he's only 19 and i seriously see batum as his floor. that's crazy since batum is a very, very good player. ceiling is around PG. don't think he can reach durant's level overall but damn. this guy is going places. great handle/speed for his size and incredible length. above average jumper. different players but i see him and anthony davis being perennial all-stars. it's easier to say that about AD now but 'alphabet' has massive potential.

this guy is simply not getting talked about enough as ROY. i mean, it's in between MCW, oladipo and burke but how is this guy not far behind lately?

anyway, i was a big ibaka fan early on. i saw how he could hit the mid-range and start to extend. i was in the minority because he didn't rely on it often and quite frankly, his D was overrated. i was one of his biggest detractors.

alphabet is going places. he's going to be a game changer.

Bucks are such a stupid organization. They got lucky these two drafts, yet they dont know about it. Last years Henson, this years Gianis. They could ride the following lineup of:
Knight
Giannis
Middleton(Hes balling lately)
Henson
Sanders

Tank, get Wiggins/Parker and you're onto something...develop young guys rather than sign some veterans that will keep you in mediocricy.

Yet they go and give OJ Mayo 3y/24mio contract, sign Pachulia, sign Neal, sign Delfino...They should just trade Ilyasova somewhere...
Shake my head srsly

c'mon dude. only a couple teams tank for the sole purpose of tanking...at least visibly. they usually tinker with lineups and questionable coaches to get there. they tank to make it look less obvious in other words.

mayo was a good contract signing at that price point. honestly, still a very solid 6th man. can't balk at that if he's part of the rebuilding team. pachulia's good depth especially considering what happened with sanders. neal? meh. delfino's whatever.

couple bad moves but a solid foundation. can you imagine if you kept harris?

I've seen a few games and more than a couple clips, and I love the kid. I do think he's a tricky building block though. His ball handling and vision are both outstanding at his size, but he's not a PG, nor do I see him being able to develop into a PG. He's got instincts, but he's still very raw in terms of knowing where to be himself let alone other people, which even as young as he is, is something you see in guys who are PGs even earlier than this.

Defensively he can be a legit monster. Offensively, he'll probably be an elite level offensive rebounder, and should be a cutter and finisher too. I don't think the shot is going to develop to being better than average (his hands may actually be too big). But if he's gonna be special, he needs a team to take advantage of his passing and ball handling, while not asking him to actually run a team. Something like a super version of the things Boris Diaw has done at differing levels over the years. And then exploit him as a post player, and use him as a screen and roll screener, but one of those rare ones where you can drop late roll passes to him, and he can create from the middle of the floor in those situations. The Bulls used Toni Kukoc like that during their second three peat to great success. Toni wasn't quite the athlete, but was a much better shooter than I think Gi will get to, and probably had a more natural instinct for spacing, even though that's a strength of Gi's too. Josh Smith had similar athleticism, similar jumper construct, and was pretty gifted instictually with the ball himself. And he's been a weird fit his whole career too. Could never get out of touch with that jumper like he should. Gi hopefully can be reigned in by not coming up in the American hoops culture, and Smith is probably the most similar defensively I can think of.

These guys are really good players, and Gi is cut from that cloth, but with the chance to be a DPoY at the same time. But they are weird pieces, and hopefully he gets put in a position to use this stuff instead of just becoming a defender cutter type.

This Buck team needs some shooting. If they're gonna trott out Gi, Hensen, SANDERS!!!, Knight, and some other SG, say Mayo moving forward, they've got Piston's like Spacing Issues to deal with.

Giannis is a stud, has superstar potential!

Needs more of the ball on offense as will go 3-4 offensive sets without seeing the rock as Knight will chuck!

Could become the teams PG if developed properly as he has crazy court vision

Great D, can rebound with the best, and his ability to get on the break cannot be taught!
