Had a good laugh at the 09 Lakers being better than the 08 Celtics and the 09 Cavs being on that list.

Honestly, the 01-02 Kings would beat some of these 00's championship teams.

Don't get people ranking 03 Spurs above 05 or 07. 03 Spurs was a PEAK Timmy with a bunch of young, inexperienced sidekicks (Parker, SJax and Manu).

05 was a deep, versatile squad with Manu at his peak and Parker at the beginning of his prime.

07 had all big 3 in their prime with experienced veterans around them.

Shouldn't the 03 Spurs be the worst of the 3?

Yeah, they would have. Should be on the list.

Can't remember the year, but the Suns team with Nash, Joe Johnson, QRich, Marion, and Amare. Jimmy Jackson came off the bench.

They could have gone all the way but Joe Johnson got injured in the playoffs, ruining their run.

The following year Johnson got that fat contract from the Hawks.

I'm surprised people are putting the 06 Heat team so high up. Honestly, the 05 team is better for me, and the only reason we didn't win that year is because of injuries. The only team I think that's worse than our 06 team is the 07 Spurs.

The most accurate, so far.

I would swap the 07 Spurs with 03 Spurs and Pistons over the Heat.

09 Lakers and 06 Heat is interesting. Forget Shaq and Wade vs Kobe for a second, it's Phil Jackson vs Pat Riley. Clash of 2 legendary coaches. Both teams had pretty good depth too. Also, would 00 Lakers be over the 03 Spurs ? Or are they left out since they aren't part of the 00's exclusively ?

I'd put the 02 kings over the 02 lakers.

The 03 Spurs would be worse. I agree with 05 Heat over the 06 Heat.

I wouldn't blame you. I'd think there's a lot who would probably agree with that happened that year.

2. 2004-05 Spurs
3. 2001-02 Lakers
4. 2001-02 Kings
5. 2007-08 Celtics
6. 2008-09 Lakers
7. 2003-04 Pistons
8. 2004-05 Pistons
9. 2004-05 Heat
10. 1999-00 Lakers (they are part of '00s)

HM; 2006-07 Spurs, 2005-06 Heat, 2005-06 Mavs

2002-03 Spurs definetely were not a top 10 team. Duncan had one of the historical individual runs in the history. But as for being a great team, they weren't good.

I find the hype around 2007-08 Celtics is much greater than they deserve. If I remake the list with only considering their playoff performances, they would be borderline top 10. I made a thread about them like 2-3 year ago.

2003-04 Lakers were probably the best roster of the '00s but I think it's good to see them getting no recognition as the top team.

BTW, the mid '00s looked like a truly competitive era to me while making the list. The early '00s has only 3peat Lakers and the Kings. The late '00s has only the Celtics and the Lakers. But in the mid, there are some competitors, such as the Spurs, the Pistons, the Heat, the Mavs and the Suns. There aren't many times that 4 or 5 teams were the contenders for real.

Yeah. I think think the 05 Heat team was better too. I think it's just the fact that the 06 Heat team won a championship ppl seem to forget how much better than the 05 Heat team was compared to the 06 one. In this case, I would say the championships are overrated, lol. There are better teams who didn't win championships. And since we aren't ranking championships teams, but the best teams of 00s, I would say:

1. Lakers 01
2. Kings 02
3. Spurs 05
4. Lakers 02
5. Celtics 08
6. Lakers 00
7. Pistons 04
8. Pistons 05
9. Lakers 09
10. Heat 05

Have to give a shout out to the Blazers 00, Spurs 07, Suns 05 (probably the most talented team in the 00s), and 06 Mavs.

Like Odinn, I would probably say that the Celtics 08 is a bit overrated. But I think the 2000 Lakers and 2008 Celtics are interchangeable. The 2000 Lakers probably had the best bench out the Shaq/Kobe 3peat with Fox, Fisher and Horry coming off. It would be a fun matchup tho. Shaq, Kobe, and Glen Rice vs Garnett, Pierce and Allen.

The 06 Mavs in my opinion were a much better team than the 06 Heat... Heat just got clutch when it countered but I think that Mavs squad was absolutely brilliantly put together...

An interesting thread may be the reverse - rank the worst 10 teams of the 00's haha...
