View Full Version : Larry Bird calls out Granger

"He doesn't work hard enough (in the offseason)," Bird said. "He's not a guy who'll push himself to the brink like a lot of our guys do. He works hard but he doesn't push himself. That's why he starts slow every year and he just works his way back. Now this year, he's been hurt, so it's a different deal."

Bird must be pissed at him lol. If there's anybody who can call out someone's work ethic, it's Bird.

He looked rusty against the rockets yesterday.

Granger will be gone this summer.
Maybe he will go to LA and Kobe will push him.

"You know how I feel about Danny," Bird said. "He brings so much more to our team than people realize. Watching the game Friday night, our team finally looked complete. Just his toughness, his ability to shoot the ball from the outside. What we're going to need is for him to defend. It all boils down to how he defends, and that'll determine how many minutes he gets."

Yeah. He doesn't consistently defend with full effort. It was annoying to watch when he started to improve and show all that potential.

Its pretty crazy that Indiana has a guy of that caliber coming off their bench. Hes a 20ppg scorer that can spread the floor, and hes a pretty tough cover for most guys.

Indiana is looking nice from SG all the way to C, and the bench is very nice. All that is missing is a PG.

the pacers are blue collar hard workers and he is a diva still basking from his one glorious year.

It's up to Granger now. Paul George could be the best thing that ever happened to him, or the worst, depending on how he responds in his habits.

It's like the tortoise and the hare, i'm sure Granger would've never thought George and Stephenson would reach the level they're at today. Can't slack off anymore.

That comment seems totally out of place though, especially after the Rockets beatdown, and the good feels of Granger returning.

Did he just say that recently, or was that awhile back?

Anyone have an actual link to that quote, including the date? Seems odd that Bird is so critical of him after his first game back.

Yep, it's in the article. He said it Saturday.

I was shocked to read it, but the only reason would be to light a fire under his ass. Bird has always been good at that.

Although it seems unprofessional to say it in the media.

Bird must of had a bad day and wanted to get it out.

Yeah good point :oldlol:

I hope Granger gets his shit together so that Pacers can trade him or use him as a weapon off the bench.

Indiana still won't win unless Bird coaches them. Vogel won't cut it.

I don't know. I'd say Bird had a phenomenal work ethic, so it's unfair for him to judge other players by his own standard.

I don't think Bird can be calling anybody out.

How does this comment affect his massive expiring contract?

Indy needs to package Granger for 2 good pieces for their bench preferably off bench scorer and PG. Theres no problem with their starters and Danny isnt a player youre gonna have long term too many risks.
