View Full Version : Which player is most fun to watch take over a game?
Andrew Wiggins

dirk for me, in the 4th quarter when he's hitting all those fadeaways with defenders draped all over him. unstoppable and great to watch.
steph curry also when he's on a role shooting 3s and just pulls up from anywhere

Unstoppable scoring force down low has always been my favorite game style

Right now? Dirk or Kobe. All time? It was probably Iverson, i use to watch him all the time.

You made this thread a year too early, because the answer will clearly be "The prodigy known as Jabari "The Future MVP" Parker the Mormon Mamba "
But until that time it's Steph Curry for me
if his shots is falling.. then Carmelo... well you cant go wrong with Dirk or Kobe either..

I love watching dirk take over. What makes him so scary is that, the dirk fade is basically unstoppable if he's within 18 feet of the basket. He might miss, but you can't stop him from getting it off and that always makes him dangerous.

Somebody who can do it in a variety of ways, both defensively and offensively. And not only through scoring but also through blocks, playmaking and bunch of other different ways.
Jordan would have been awesome to see live taking over a game.

I'm gonna say LeBron. Not just because the points he scores, but those key defensive stops on the other end. You know he's gonna be defending the other team's best player more times than not. That's what a take over means to me. When they get it done on both ends of the court. If we're talking strictly offense though, I'd actually go with Dirky as well even though I hate Dallas.

D-Wade
when he takes over, he takes over in every single way possible. disruptive on one end with steals, blocks, deflections. and a beast on the other end. highlight reel layups, dunks, shots, assists, etc. dude is just everywhere, putting together sequences of events that make you crap your pants.

As of right now, currently in the league and capable of taking over, I'll actually say Melo.
I love to see Dirk and Curry, Durant take over games...
However, the insane amount of shots being shot when Carmelo is comfortable/confident/in his zone, and those shots start to hit, you do NOT know what this guy is going to do.
Watching him get hot on one of those nights he feels he needs to chuck over 25 shots a game and over half of them hitting, is just a beauty to watch.
Other players, have a few trademark moves in their game... Carmelo's offensive variety is truly ridiculous, it is the reason that people gave him a nod for his offensive arsenal and the #1 player if NBA players played 1v1, regardless of how much fun he gets made of.

It's massively entertaining whenever, whoever a player goes nuts taking over a game. Except for big men. Mainly the perimeter stars with their sexy game, handles, jumper, acrobatic dunks, and long range bombs. Select few could make it entertaining on defense too: MJ, Kobe, Wade, LeBron, Pippen, and Hakeem.

Right now, probably Durant. And not free throw Durant. When Durant starts raining outside shots and making stupidly difficult shots, it's art. His jumper is so pleasing on the eye aesthetically.
All time? Have a guess. :lol

LeBron. He doesn't just takeover scoring wise, he'll make incredible passes that no one else in the league can, shutdown the other teams best player, may it be Derrick Rose, Tony Parker or even David West. He takesover in a wide variety of ways, which makes it fun to watch.
Andrew Wiggins
12-24-2013, 03:23 PM
one of the reasons it's so fun for me to watch dirk take over is because everyone knows where he's going to be, what shot he's going to take, and there's not a damn thing you can do to stop it
Foster5k
12-24-2013, 03:27 PM
Not too many players can actually take over a game besides Lebron on both ends of the court. So, I'll go with the obvious answer and say Lebron James.
All time would be Michael Jordan. You knew the Bulls were good. You knew they were going to win almost every game, but MJ always made it fun to watch. Jordan was the complete player with the perfect amount of showmanship to boot. Everyone wanted to be like Mike. Damn, I miss the 90s Bulls.

I used to love it when whole teams would back up knowing D Rose was going to go hard to the hoop and he still he gets pass three players for the layup. The whole teams defensive concepts are destroyed and its weakness exploited. Coach is mad, teammates wondering what went wrong and the crowd is fully engaged. And once the adjustments were made, he still came the defense in waves.
All time its Magic because he was unusually connected to his team is a multitude of ways. It was like an army deployment when the team knew he wanted to run. The formations were a thing of beauty. Plus he was the perfect synthesis of intelligence, team, speed, creativity, excitement, versatility, and seeing what nobody else does. Magic attacked the whole defense: their height, their endurance, their inability to adjust, their lack of speed, their weakest link, their overplays, their lack of execution... He was on a different level than anybody.

Active, CP3 or KG. CP3 because he's a midget and his dribbling skills are absurd although he can hold onto the ball too much. KG (at least before his decline) because he would get so pumped up it was hilarious, especially when he starts slapping the floor or pounding his chest and spraying spittle everywhere. Plus he was one of the few players who could do legit Hakeem-like moves in the post without falling over.

Probably Steph. Those rainbow 3's and moonshot scoop floater are incredible to witness. Probably a tie between him and Dirk because they hit shots that are just baffling.

outside of Ginobili, I'd also add prime Brandon Roy, Allen Iverson, and Gilbert Arenas... All so fun to watch take over.

LBJ...guards 4-5 positions basically puts up monster triple double type numbers up. Kills you not only with scoring but he literally carves you up with his passing
Many people trying to be original... but... come on... Lebron....

Because it's so rare? I don't get this. Troll.
OH GOD HE HIT THREE MID RANGE JUMPERS IN A ROW WITH HIS DEFENDER DARING HIM TO SHOOT. HE IS UNSTOPPABLE!
The correct answer is by the way Steph Curry. When he starts dancing with the ball, breaking ankles, shooting threes on the run with defenders draped all over him deep behind the 3 point line - that gives me goosebumps.

Michael Jordan
From 1990-92 in the playoffs Jordan was shooting over 60% in crunch time. This is according to 82games.com standard, and can also be found on NBA.com.

It wasn't so much that Hawkins scored only two points in the final 12 minutes, it was more that Jordan wouldn't even let him touch the ball. The least recognized part of Jordan's game is his ability to slip picks and suddenly pop up in the passing lane, like a kid who finds a shortcut to the candy store. "Nobody has ever been better at the end of a game than Michael," said Bulls coach Phil Jackson afterward. " Oscar Robertson was great, but this guy is a closer at both ends."

see how Lberon points, rebounds, stls, blks, and ast sky rocket in the clutch? That what makes the LBJ "takeover" so amazing. The only other player that can do it (not as good though) in healthy wade.

CP3 for me. It's fun watching a 6 foot, unselfish/pass-first PG turn into a killer instinct type scorer in the 4th quarter - he'll have 8 points through 3 quarters and still end up with 20. Unlike the other players mentioned he doesn't get easy baskets from his teammates, he creates almost every shot for him and his team by himself on just skill/IQ only.
no pun intended

Active it's CP3 for me.
CP3 because he's a small guy going up against titans. Dude has an unstoppable mid range game in the clutch it seems. I'm always shocked when he miss. He also steps up his D too, and get some clutch steals. He does over dribble a lot and don't look for his teammates that much, but I'm always in awe. He just schooling guys on his dribbling skills and IQ. All skill.
This year hasn't been his best, but it's still entertaining.
