Kevin Durant is by far the best runner-up in NBA history when it comes to the Christmas MVP award

I never got the obsession people have with Christmas games and stats, as if they somehow mean more than the average regular season game.

They do? It's a big media day and the NBA treats it as special, for obvious reasons. There is no argument here. Yes, it's more important than an average regular season game.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there is no award for Christmas MVP all of a sudden. LeBron was arguably player of the day on Christmas Day, that's all.

I can tell you exactly where I was for every NBA Christmas MVP performance

For the media, of course. And the media convince fans that since it's important for them, they are "objectively" important. I couldn't care less when they are played, they count the same, but of course I'm in the minority. Doesn't matter.
How about Easter, though? How come Easter records don't exist? Isn't it big in America? Or is the fact that Easter dates are not set screwing up the whole thing?
(I'm not American, obviously).
