I know right? Lakers need Nash in order for them to lose more games to get better placement in the lottery.

They have a realistic shot of getting either Exum or Smart (they could slide down 'coz not many lottery team needs guards), and Nash not playing isn't helping the case

Trade nash for anything (2nd or 3rd round picks if needed) and get rid of pau for picks as well. Rebuild time in the next year with a superstar rookie and solid other picks. Then we sign Love and Westbrook in 2015 = best in the west (wigguns/kobe/love/westbrook)

Kobe gets to chuck for kareems record in 2014 and be a solid 6th man coming off the bench or just like duncan playing limited minutes.

I miss Nash. :( Breaking his leg in the 2nd game last year ruined his career. Before that he was still managing a good double-double in Phoenix.

if the lakers didn't need a PG so much they'd almost be better off with Nash hurt. he's been terrible since he joined the Lakers. so bad he should give back half his salary, if not guilt trip him real bad for being a washed up waste.

and Kobe didn't look good at all when he came back this year, it wasn't like last year where he still showed hops and surprising quickness. i don't think its just his timing thats off. he's going to hit a real steep decline real soon where he's just going to turn into full on stationary chucker.

they really need to fire D Antoni tho and rebuild after that. they should hire George Karl. look at how crappy the Nuggets are now.

Even with no hops or quickness he will always be an elite midrange post scorer due to his skills, experience and craftiness and huge variety of moves.

He only looked off this year because he wasn't used to game speed yet. If he can stay healthy, I think he can easily put up 22ppg 45% 30MPG 7 APG.

In his defense, he wasn't asking for this. His rinchasing ass should have gone to Miami, even on the injury list he would have a ring :lol

i agree he'll always be a very good shooter, but the problem with Kobe and the Lakers in general is how long are they going to let him run the show despite being a liability trying? like even when he came back this year with his timing being really off it was a mockery of their whole organization letting him run PG like that and throwing all of those highlight passes for TO's. its like Kobe was bigger than them winning/losing, where letting him run the show or trying to get him acclimated was more important than winning games. it really feels like they've conceded the whole team to Kobe and whatever he wants to do regardless of success or failure. with any other player or organization they'd get him acclimated thru practices and pull him for throwing 1/4 of the passes he was throwing. i've never seen a player who seems to be above the team winning as much as Kobe is with the Lakers. it was almost ridiculous watching him throw every pass like it had to be a Sportscenter highlight. i guess it plays right into their benefit if the Lakers are tanking for picks on purpose....

And what i saw of Kobe's movement when he came back this year seemed a lot worse than last year. thats why i said i don't think its just his timing thats going to be off. last year tho, Kobe was amazingly mobile, like he went back 5 years in time. i just have my doubts it'll be anything like that this year.

He is no Ray Allen (makes any team better). Miami wants a defensive, semi athletic, pesky physical point guards as defense is the identity. Nash would never even crack the rotation and assuming he is asking more then 500k (he got like 10mil per year from Lakers?) I doubt he will win anything with anyone when he hit free agency 2yrs ago.

He needs to retire. The Lakers should have never signed him, and certainly shouldn't have given up those picks to get him.

Not really. You're talking about players who have been playing at a high level across 3 decades. And we're almost at the halfway mark of this decade now (damn time flies).

At the end of the day, as history has proven throughout every decade of the league, the body begins to break down after age 30. And no amount of medicine, technology or precaution is gonna change that.

Sure some players last longer than others, but that's only because they either didn't have to carry a team their whole career, or they have their games and roles get redefined based on team needs.

It's why this generation sees Ray Allen as a spot up shooter, for example, where as my generation remembers his high flying style during his days in Milwaukee. Some guys (or their coaches) don't take into consideration that they simply can't do what they used to, and end up overtaxing the body, which usually leads to injury.

That's why I respect coaches like Phil, Pops and even Spo for being smart enough to take wear and tear of players into consideration.
