The bible sucks...not much character development, terrible dialogue, the plot is not very believable, pretty much a snooze fest.

Only 1000 pager that comes to mind is Atlas Shrugged and that book could have been 400 pages shorter if Ayn Rand didn't like the sound of her own voice so much.
John Galt is supposed to be a revolutionary genius who discovered the most efficient use of energy in human history....yet he gives a radio broadcast that has a manuscript of 90 pages. You would think that a engineer and genius of his caliber wouldn't say the same thing 20 different ways in a speech.

Nah. Just doesn't make sense that the Sovereign in Hell would punish souls in his domain for joining his fight against the Tyrant in Heaven. History is written by the victors so obviously everything Lucifer related will be negative when authored by Jehovah and his various mouthpieces. What people forget (or never knew) is that Lucifer was God's right hand man, the most powerful and beautiful of the archangels. He started his war because of the perceived injustices done by the big man and his son.
It wasn't because he was 'evil', maybe a little power hungry. But he had legit grievances and he can be viewed as a sort of freedom fighter. His coup failed and he was banished from Heaven. So logically... why would he punish those who, like himself, fought against tyranny? If anything, he would reward them, no?
All Heaven is- everyone spending every waking moment fawning over and praising an insecure overlord. Does that sound more enticing than say a game of strip poker with Elizabeth Bathory and Bonnie Parker?

Weird view of hell you got. I'm more accustomed to the whole "burning for eternity" thing. It kind of drags the place down, you know. I mean, shit an "eternity"? At least give us the weekends. :biggums:
Right, but where are you getting your info from? Has the devil ever gone the Jehovah route and given an account of what Hell is really like through a human mouthpiece? Does John Milton count as a prophet of Lucifer? :confusedshrug:

None and hopefully it will stay that way
Taiko and Musashi are both amazing 1000 page novels. The first one deals with the life of Hideyoshi, one of the pivotal figures involved in the unification of Japan. The latter deals with Japan's greatest martial artist, Musashi, and picks up right after the unification. Both are very readable despite their length.

the problem with that theory is that it's assuming that the "loser of the coup," Lucifer, gets to be the warden of his own prison. if God was the winner in the battle, and he cast down Lucifer to hell, i'm pretty sure hell would be the equivalent of prison. inmates don't run it.
which leads me to my next point. if God's version of hell is an eternity of fire and brimstone, God's cruelty disturbs me to no end.

If you're okay with the idea that god created the devil and all of this is logical, why are you against the idea that maybe god isn't talking out of his ass and this devil guy is bad news? Are you just not a fan of worship? :confusedshrug:
Think about it though... Lucifer was God's favorite arcangel, said he was perfect in every way... until he challenged his authority:
Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
-Ezekiel 28:15
But then Lucifer turns against Jehovah, and he wasn't alone. A whole army of angels joined him and fought against the father, the son, and the archangels who remained loyal to them. Does the bible even say why this happened? Obviously something went down that created a Civil War in Heaven that caused God's perfect creations to all of a sudden turn into 'bad news'.
If you've read the bible you know that Jehovah (especially in the OT) comes off as a deeply insecure and violent overlord with an itchy trigger finger. How do we know he was not at fault and that Lucifer's rebellion was legitimate? Several prominent Angels agreed he was in the right :confusedshrug:
But again, to the victor belong the spoils and History is written by the winners...

Aren't we led to believe that Satan can travel freely from Hell to our World and even influence people's actions (ie, endowing them with the greatest of all sins... knowledge :oldlol:). He's most definitely running the show down there (and up here as well?). He and Jehovah are playing a game of souls, preparing for the end times. It's just that the big man has a much better PR department.

Is the devil from the bible the same as the devil from the Quran or any other incarnation or are we pretending like the bible is canon?
Take your pick. Personally I go with Paradise Lost.

I see the term "Lucifer" is being all blown out of proportion once again lol
It is used only once in the whole Bible and it refers to the time God judged an ancient king of Babylon who became lifted up with pride. It does not refer to the devil. Myth #1 busted oops.
Hell is a place/condition of torment. People/creatures who are there are said to be weeping and gnashing their teeth, begging God (across the "great gulf") for just one drop of water to cool their tongues. It is actually a temporary "place" that will ultimately be destroyed in the lake of fire. There is no partying going on there. There are no beings ruling over others there. Just suffering for all. Myth # 2 busted.
I don't think of hell or the lake of fire as punishment. I think of it as giving wicked bastards what they want...which is to be apart from God. The Bible describes God as an All Consuming Fire. Soooo since God isn't going anywhere, and you chose not to be reunited with your Creator through faith, then it's simple: you will be consumed by His presence when He comes back to rule and reign on earth. The prophecies state that "the elements shall melt with fervent heat". Afterwards there will be a new heaven and a new earth. What do you think will happen to flesh and blood when the very elements of heaven and earth will melt?

According to whom, exactly? :confusedshrug:
Has Lucifer or any of his henchmen or anyone who has spent time in Hades given a first hand account of what really goes on down there? You take hearsay as fact without any fact-checking?

I'm glad you are ignorant of what the real name of God is. Question: Have you actually read the Bible? Your lack of understanding leads me to believe that you haven't.
Doesn't matter if 100% of creatures turn against the Creator. They are all at a major disadvantage. Like bringing fists to a fight with a nuclear war ship. lol

What truth? If a god feels the need to punish me for not believing in him when he didn't make it absolutely clear that he exists and is actually purposely responsible for my actions, then it's not a god I would worship anyway.
Regardless, the idea that sending souls to hell isn't punishment is severely retarded.
LOL You still don't get it. What if I told you there is no punishment. http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2013/105/8/e/what_if_i_told_you_by_heroforpain-d61vzyl.jpg
What if I told you that you get what you want...which is to be separated from the one who created you, for all eternity?
He confounds the wise by making entrance into His kingdom by faith. People who are stuck on so-called "facts" and "evidence" and "science" and "signs" and "wonders" can't find it. He created you for His pleasure, not the other way around. And without faith, it is impossible to please God. So don't expect Him to come running after you to convince you He is real. If you really want to find out then you're gonna have to seek Him out.

ummm, the Bible. The only 1000+ page worth reading.
And why is that the end all? Do you even know who wrote the bible in the first place? Why do you accept it as the irrevocable truth? Have you done any sort of research into its actual Historical genesis (pun intended)? Or did you just accept what your parents/guardians force fed you from an early age?

What did you think of the ending on the wheel of time series? Think Sanderson did a good job? I liked it, but the writing doesnt compare to Song of Ice and Fire imo, Martin is just so much better on creating tension.

Stopped reading after The Fires of Heaven, the fifth book. I might pick it up again since the series is done, but I've been reading other stuff. I was sad that Robert Jordan couldn't complete the series, and I don't know if Sanderson did a decent job or not on the final 3 books.
And yeah, I like the Song of Ice and Fire better too. I just don't want to get ahead of the TV show because I think I would criticize the TV on the small little things. But it's hard because I want to know what happens next.
And I would like to see a Wheel of Time TV show, movie, or another video game from that universe.

Oh i thought you had finished them. Sanderson does a good job imo, writes pretty much in the same style as Jordan. Also from what i read Jordan knew he was dying so he left thousands of pages of notes on how the book should end, so it wasnt a travesty like the Dune books.

Gibbon - Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire (4,000 pages)
Anthony Powell - A Dance to the Music of time (3,000)
Tolstoy - War and Peace (1200ish)
Tocqueville's Democracy in America i think is just about 1,000
Lord of the Rings
I've also got some collected works that are 1,000+ pages, but that doesn't really count. And there are lots of really good books around 800-900 pages (Middlemarch, The Brothers, Anna Karenina etc.).

In grade school I read Stephen King's IT and The Stand.
Later I read books such as War and Peace, The Brothers Karamazov and The Count of Monte Cristo. Middlemarch is close to 1000 pages I believe.

These authors are some self absorbed cvnts if they think people wanna read that much of their shit
I know you're trolling, but I agree. I can't even imagine how long of a time period or the amount of information a book would have to cover in order to have 1000 pages of good writing.
But I don't believe in lulls. I prefer books about 200-300 pages long. Short stories are obviously my favorite sort of prose, but if a book gets over 500 pages, it better be amazing, and even then I find myself snoring through parts of it.
