View Full Version : Has DeMar DeRozan really become one of the top SG's in the league?
Not too long ago people were saying he's a bad pick, and a low I.Q. basketball player but now it seems he has changed some people's opinion since the Rudy Gay trade. Will he make an all-star team?

He's the new Rip Hamilton.
He is a top SG, but I feel that reflects more on the poor quality of the position in the league more so than the quality of DeRozan.

He's the new Rip Hamilton. The day Derozan actually learns to play offball like Rip used to will be the day a contender will actually want him.

They couldn't be more different.Well one of them could have been a 300 lbs center while the other a skinny swingman... that'd be more different

He's better than Harden. He actually shows some semblance of offensive skill aside from free throw shooting and shows some life on defense

One is All-NBA status, the other might not even be all-star status.

He sure is now... it only took a hobbled eastern conference to get there.

Right. Ask Houston and Toronto to do that trade up and we'll see which team laughs hysterically and which teams jumps on it right away.

DeRozan is better than Harden on defense, but Harden is better overall and that won't change unless DeRozan improves a little more in the regular season (not very likely right now) or shows he's a better playoff performer.

Wade
Monta Ellis
Afflalo
Harden
Evan Turner
are all better than DeMar
then there are also these guys:
Jimmy Butler
Lance Stephenson
Avery Bradley
Joe Johnson
Beal
Manu
Kevin Martin
Wes Matthews
Lamb
Klay Thompson
Bledsoe (even though he's a PG)

Evan Turner is a SF in my books. I'd say it's close with Afflalo.
I would most definitely say DeRozan is a better player than Butler, Bradley and Lamb. The rest are questionable.

he got A LOT better, imo only 2guards better are wade harden kobe and monta
DeRozen has been playing well, and the Raptors are winning. I am still not completely sold on him. His jumper is still inconsistent and he takes far too many mid-range jumpers (though he has been a lot better this year). I like the fact that Raptors moved Gay, and Ross seems to work a lot better as he doesn't demand the ball, and DeRozen and Lowry do make a good G combo. Basically they help cover his deficiencies and open the lane, which I'd like to see him exploit more with his athleticism rather than settling.
Is he all-star talent? Possibly. Borderline anyway.

I'd take him over Monta, mainly because of the height at the defensive end, less of a mismatch. Though I'd probably take a guy like Klay Thompson over him because of the shooting ability and not needing the ball as much to be effective, but really that all depends on the style of ball your team plays.
