I've been pretty busy these past couple of days so I totally forgot about the chicken breasts I had sitting in my fridge from Thursday or Friday (I forgot). I just smelled the chicken and damn it smells a bit sour. Could be my mind just f*cking with me though. Not sure if I should still cook it or not. Leaning towards throwing it out though

What are your guys' rules to uncooked meat/poultry sitting in the fridge? I've got some pork steaks in the fridge as well put in the same day as the chicken that I'm currently cooking ATM because I know meat can be stored in the fridge longer than chicken.

Maybe a day or two after use by if it smells ok. If it is just starting to smell a bit but not enough to turn me off I will just cook it longer.

my rule is it's not worth getting sick over... I had real deal food poisoning once and I never ever want to go through that again...

Yeah be careful with it and don't take any chances. I got Salmonella poisoning in September and lost twenty pounds in two weeks. I also shit myself in class.

If it's bad you'll smell it. Should be good for about a week. Anything after that is the smell test.

What'd you get it from?

If the tissue is no longer firm, slimy and smells just throw it out salmonella is no joke. I think chicken breast can only stay in the chiller max 3 days. Should just leave raw stuff in the freezer.

You can freeze chicken and use it way after three days. Or do you mean after it's cooked?
