I think he could pull it off.

What was crazy was MJ's teamate was the first to attempt it, BUT he went around the back first. When I was a kid I emulated it into a layup

I remember watching this dunk live

He was awfully close there, at a time when no one else had really pulled that jam off in public aside from Orlando Woolridge's awkward finish in '84. I'm guessing MJ could (and did) finish between the legs flushes (unless that was his only time attempting). Interesting footage nonetheless.

Jordan had one of the greatest leaping ability from a basketball player but as a dunker he was very stiff. His dunk comprises of his leaping ability that doesn't really equate to being a good dunker. Good athlete? Yes. Dunker? Nope.

Most overrated athlete in sports history. People talk like he could leap over buildings when in reality he is not much more athletic than Jared Dudley.

I wouldn't say that.

He was great but at the same time very overrated when it comes to dunking. He wasn't as agile as most great dunkers. He was very stiff.

Relax, son, everyone misses dunks, but as this video demonstrates, if at first you don't succeed...

So you are comparing MJ to a better dunker? :facepalm

I doubt MJ will make the dunk on a 2nd attempt because of the facts I stated above about being too stiff. We have never seen MJ pull off a trick dunk and you want to compare him to a better dunker than him?

Not just a better dunker but an in-game dunker too.

LeBron is a better dunker than all. Fact. That includes Jordan and kobe

He's so Great that he has never participated in the dunk contest and the world BEGS him to join.

He's definitely up there for in-game dunks. Very bold style.

I think his 360 dunks are among the coolest-looking basketball plays I've ever seen.

That is one dunk the great MJ can't do haha kidding aside though he almost made it. I thought he would have lost the ball in mid-air or something.

Why would i hate him?? I was very suprise that he attempted a between the legs dunk. Dunkers nowadays are just better and more creative than dunkers over 25 yrs. ago.

He had a style all his own. He owned that shit. Who really dunked like Kobe? Seriously, who? I can't even think of anyone. He's like Kemp, in that regard. They were one of a kind.

One legged jumpers always look awkward attempting between the legs dunks...well almost all dunks in general. Kobe, MJ, and Lebron all does it the same way. Lebron's bounce dunk is easier to do than gathering it like MJ did.

Just stop.

That is the best traditional between the legs dunk of all time. The ball went flying off that bounce. He had enough power, after running, to throw it down to make the ball go flying, Carter style. What's awkward about that? :biggums:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaOCCg8KN4g

This is worse quality, but it shows the dunk better.

Yeah. LeBron's dunk looked pretty sick tho.

I think Kobe's windmill (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtn5qhR9cvU) dunks are pretty underrated too.

Kobe is one of the most stylistic dunkers of all time. That guy is talking out of his god damn ass. He's somehow more insane than that clown talking about how stiff Jordan is.

I will have to admit that Kobe and some of the 2000's boys have great style.

But kids these days don't appreciate substance.

Funny that his teammate, Orlando Woolridge, did it without even breaking a sweat and went around the back too.

To be fair, it's not like he couldn't have made it had he tried it again or something, and most likely he had done it before. That was during Magic's mid-summer nights, charity games, I believe.

His looked awful and robotic. Jordan did it with much more grace, had he finished it.

The impressive thing about Lebron is how high he gets up with the size he is working with (which equals power too). The fluidity isn't there though like a two legged jumper because of the stiffer upper body...VC, J-Rich, Desmon Mason, Blake Griffin, Paul George etc. Iguodala to me did a better between the legs off one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIAOwwzFDCA

Nothing wrong with being worse than those names. They're the best of the best. Desmond is hilariously underrated. He was every bit as good as J-Rich.

Maybe. He wasn't stepping out with that cocky 'I'm the best' attitude though, and it looked like he wasn't even trying.

I'm not hating on MJ though. Does anyone actually believe that he wouldn't be able to EASILY do that if he practiced it every once in a while, like athletic kids who play basketball do these days? (also instead of practicing other, much more important, parts of the game though) Him or Julius, or Griffith, or Thompson, or Wilkins, or Nance, or Drexler.........

He was every bit as good as J-Rich.Desmond Mason is one of my favorite dunkers of all-time, but I still place him a notch below Jason Richardson. I loved Mason's style and I liked his rock-the-cradle and between the legs, but some of his contest stuff wasn't really on par with anything Richardson brought forth. I wasn't particularly impressed with Mason's '01 victory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Aqs0QzM03Q

moe94

There is no comparison between J-Rich and Mason in the dunk contest. J-Rich is Carter territory. I meant as flat out dunkers. Mason did everything J-Rich did in terms of windmills and flair. He also seemed to be more powerful and utilized a lot of leg kicks like Kemp. J-Rich does the same thing, but it's even more noticeable with Mason.
