It was the best year for film, too, at least of the 90s. 94 is too damn GOAT to believe and nostalgia has nothing to do with it. Just look at what happened.

There was also:
Black Sheep
Run DMC Down With The King
Lords of The Underground
Black Moon
Brand Nubian
Grand Pubba

I can go on...

Depends on what type of Hip-Hop you listen to. Not a big fan of mainstream.

Most of the albums on that list were influenced by Das Efx, The Chronic (which was aight), Common's first album, Pharcyde which were all 1992.

Common did a pretty good job exposing weak gangster rap artists which isn't really a genre that did any good for Hip-Hop.

1996 has a stronger case than 1994 also and Nas aint mah god. My opinion doe.

I switch back and forth but if a gun was held to me and I was told I can only keep one, it's totally Infamous.

Those 2 along with Illmatic might be the GOAT albums IMO.

havoc's beats on that record

Ready to die was better than any other release that year though. Illmatic is really amazing but kind of overrated on the web imo. The production gets redundant after while.

Above The Rim soundtrack was the best release imo. It had everything on it.

-Anything
-Part Time Love
-Regulate
-Pour Out a Little Liquor
-Big Pimpin
-Im Still In Love With You
-Hoochies Need Love Too
-U Bring Da Dog Out
-Afro Puffs
-Old Times Sake

I have listened to beginning to end more times than any CD ever.

"Pain" by 2Pac is one of my favorite songs from him.

For some reason, it was on the cassette tape and not the CD.

93-97 plus or minus a year is my fav era of hip hop

2 Wu Albums and it seem like everyone out oh the Wu was dropping dope solos. Not saying it's a classic but heck even The pillage was a good album in my view.

At the same time I listened to a lot of bad boy due to BIG growing up. Mase was the first album I went out and bought. On a positive it did introduce me to X and the LOX.

I know.. I know... some will say we're being 'nostalgic' and whatnot, but one can't compare the quality and the amount of great music coming out at that time. 90s hip hop was the GOAT era for rap music bar none.

My favorite era is from 88 to about 96, 97. Both Hip-Hop and R & B have taken a nose dive in quality since the late 90s.

Awesome, awesome era in hip hop. To really make a true dent, u had to be a sick lyricist, have true street cred, or be a great storyteller. Everybody who was truly hot in '94 and at the top had at least one. Or in the case of guys like Big, Nas, most of the Wu-******, etc. u get all three. I say the mid to late 90's was the best era in hip-hop. To be on top, u had to be cut from a certain cloth. Big and Pac were the biggest artists in terms of notoriety. And u see the cloth they were cut from!
